No surprise on Perry's #1 debut... again.
Glad to see Basters holding so well, esp when you consider that FD4 is sinking fast this week and H2 is scraping the bottom of the list.

So a New Moon trailer didn't save Sorority Row. Poor Audrina Patridge

Basterds aside, it seems like this is the time of year studios like to release their "suck-ass" movies in which they have no confidence. It always seems to happen on the weekend of Labor Day and the one following it; the downtime between summer season and the fall season.

I am not surprised about Soriety Row bombing. It seems like anything that isn't twilight related bombs hard for Summit. Oh how glorious would it be if New Moon tanks or highly underperforms

I don't care what anybody says, Sorority Row was a lot of fun. A little too long, but there's a lot of crap out lately much worse than Sorority Row.

Am i the only one who actually kinda wants to see "Jennefer's Body" next weekend. half of it is the 2 leads, and the other half is because i actually liked Juno.

God, how do Tyler Perry's crap keep making money.
Not surprised about Whiteout. Film was delayed for 2 years and outside of Beckinsale has a cast nobody has heard of or cared about. It was also directed by one of the worst directors in Sena, and panned by critics.
Surprised about whiteout, it had a lot of tv ads.

I think Summit may have been thinking Sorority Row would appeal to women and girls, but even if it did, it appeals to what I would think is an entirely different set of women and girls than Twilight.

I really liked Sorority Row too, but am not sure how many Rated R horror movies they think the market can take right now. Space em out people.
Boxofficemojo has the full daily chart up for Friday.
1. I Can Do Bad All By Myself $8,600,000
2. 9 $3,325,000
3. Sorority Row $1,925,000
4. INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS $1.900,000
5. All About Steve $1,825,000
6. Whiteout $1,760,000
7. The Final Destination $1,670,000
8. District 9 $1,075,000
9. Gamer $1,015,000
10. Julie & Julia $940,000 (This has made $83,000,000 and I had it pegged to do maybe $20,000,000. D'oh.)

I wonder if 9 will end up making around 9.99 million this weekend..that would be interesting.
Also yay for Final Destination tanking big time this weekend.
SO Basterds should make it past $100 million today and by this time next week it should become QT's biggest grosser ever (not adjusting for inflation of course as that would still be no. 1 if that was taken into account). It should also get close to $200 million worldwide after this weekend so very cool.
And those are horrible numbers per screen for Whiteout and Sorority Row. Wow. But Im glad they bombed too cause they look like some boring direct-to-dvd shit.

Sorority Row wasn't a "boring direct to dvd" film, really good actually....

It used to be that way when the Oscars were not until late March. Now the first two weekends of January are crap and then it's wide releases for oscar bait/ nominated films that came out in larger cities in December.

I'm hoping someone will put Megan Fox and Ellen Page (JUNO) in a movie together. An action movie. With Jason Statham. And a Hong Kong action director (Corey Yuen, hello?). It'll be my biggest movie high of whatever year it is. (In fact, I'm even planning on seeing WHIP IT, Drew Barrymore's film, simply because Ellen Page plays a Roller Derby girl in it, a preparatory step for her action movie with Megan. Bring it on!)

I noticed the rating puts the sex first before the bloody violence, so maybe some Megan Fox and or Amanda Seyfried nudity, but i highly doubt it right
