I like Peter Travers. I agree with a lot of his reviews.

True, but based on what they've done in the past, to me its silly to think that Aaron Sorkin and David Fincher would work on a movie about Facebook without commenting on something larger than Facebook.

Re: David Fincher's "The Social Network"

I've got tickets to see this Tuesday. I'm pretty excited. Hopefully Fincher's back to form after Benjammin Button (which I thought was average).

Will do. I'm pumped to see this 3 weeks early (and free doesn't hurt either.)

I read on IMDB on Fincher saying something how the FB founder has more than "550 million friends" on the site but in reality he screwed a lot of people over. The number of people on FB also reflects how society wants attention all the time and can't be dependent on their own.

Sounds like a pretty deep movie.

Re: David Fincher's "The Social Network"

Seeing this on Wednesday (unless too many people show up and I get edged out). I'm definitely looking forward to it--hopefully it's actually good, unlike Button.

87 minutes with a family friendly PG attached. Fincher and Sorkin want the film accessible to everybody.

Re: David Fincher's "The Social Network"

Don't know if it's been posted, but I saw a TV spot for this the other day, that had Kanye West's "Power" playing. Pretty good spot, from what I recall it showed some stuff that the trailers haven't shown, but I could be wrong.

Re: David Fincher's "The Social Network"

I saw it tonight and loved it! My faith has been restored in Fincher. I regret ever doubting him. The script was sharp and should get an Oscar nod. I thought both Eisenberg and Garfield were terrific. For people wondering the movie was about 2 hrs. I give it an A and hope it gets some Oscar love.

Thanks for checking back in.

Sounds like Fincher is indeed back on his game. Can't wait.

Is that before or after the 35 minute one-take steadycam shot following Zuckerberg talking to everyone in the Facebook office?

I heard it's a 35 minute steady cam shot of Zuckerberg updating his status and playing farmville

Re: David Fincher's "The Social Network"

In case anyone actually cares, it's a touch over two hours and seems geared toward a PG-13 -- a few of the f-bombs have been removed, and the sexual side of the script feels toned down.

That's where I am with this. I'll check it out on Blu-ray but that's the extent of it.

I'm fine with the PG-13 rating if the overall "message" reaches a wider audience.

But... how was it?

What's the message? That you can get rich ripping off someone else's idea and exploiting your friends and giving entitled, narcissistic Gen-Y'ers something to pander to their narcissism and sense of entitlement? That's what the trailer looked like to me.

Love Fincher, but man, the trailer almost put me to sleep and I really dont have much interest in the founding of Facebook.

Re: David Fincher's "The Social Network"

I originally thought a movie about Wall Street would be boring. But Wall Street was riveting and drew me in.

In the hands of Fincher, this movie will, hopefully, do the same for me.
