Can someone post that advert against domestic violence that she was in in the UK? BBC only showed a portion of it; claimed it was "too violent".

Abusive douchebags don't care if their wives are gorgeous. That'd be more obvious if more women were willing to report domestic abuse when it occurs.

I know we're on the internet and snark is the currency and all, but that was one rather appallingly ignorant statement before, sorry. Most of of the abuse victims I've known have been really attractive women who had really terrible taste in men.

Lighten up Francis. I was referring specifically to KK, not making light about abused women everywhere. i.e. the ad would be more powerful if it was an unknown female.

I disagree. The ad uses Keira to show that even rich, powerful, famous, and beautiful women like her can still be victims of domestic abuse. Everyone knows that normal, everyday women are abused all the time. Having a celeb do this ad increases the visibility and awareness of this problem. There are almost 540,000 views of this video on YouTube. Compare that to a "normal" domestic violence ad.

Some notable female celebrities who have been abused:
- Halle Berry
- Farrah Fawcett
- Mary J. Blige
- Oprah Winfrey

Do people really empathize with rich celebs though? Look how long Whitney Houston has been abused. Does anyone care? No. Did they ever? Maybe for about 15 minutes in 1989.

All I'm saying is that I see a PSA like that and I see an actress playing a role, not a woman being abused.

I didn't know Oprah was domestically abused. First person that would pop up to me is Tina Turner.

I think rhiana is the most recent celeb to be abused.

The reason the ad works for me is how it's put together and Keira Knightley is a key component in that.

When it starts, it's as if we're seeing a scene from some movie she did. It's all shot very straight and serious and you honestly have no idea what it's about. You see the guy and you know it's a "movie" about some chick with an abusive husband. But then she suddenly turns and looks right into the camera and says that she wants to cut, they didn't agree to that, and it wasn't in the script. That's a major WTF moment. And while you're still processing that - BAM - he nails her in the face and starts to beat and kick her while she's down.

I find it very creepy and well done. Keira Knightley's presence is there to throw you off from the fact that it was a PSA all along. Afterall, most people mute or channel surf the moment they see PSA's, as they tend to be way too preachy and obvious. Although the message is important, oftentimes the way you deliver the message is even more important.

530,000 of those are mine. I just like seeing Keira Knightley getting beat down. The only thing missing was the guy yelling "Eat a sandwich!" as he's kicking her.
