Cavill was injured during training for the movie. Production pushed back to early next year:

Also, that article saying that Cavill starred in Deadpool and Wolverine is a wee bit of an exaggeration.

Still, I'm in for the remake, just to see how well they do it.

I saw that apparently Christopher Lambert has been cast for a cameo in the remake. I told this to a friend, and he suggested that Adrian Paul should have a cameo, too. I said that would be like casting Dolph Lundgren for a cameo in a remake of the original Rocky. He said it would be no worse than what they did for Lost In Space or The A*Team. I reminded him that those actors played roles in the original versions of those particular properties, and that Adrian Paul had nothing to do with the original Highlander. Am I wrong for thinking his idea doesn't make sense?

I much prefer the Highlander TV series to the original movie (the sequels just don't exist in my mind) so I'd rather have Paul in there than Lambert anyway.

One of the Highlander sequels use the Duncan MacLeod (Adrian Paul) character meeting the movie immortals.

The series is the reason the franchise endured. However, I'd like both actors there. Heck, Lambert even guest starred in the pilot episode as Connor MacLeod.

and later they starred together in the sequel Highlander: Endgame. So I'd say there is enough connection between Adrian Paul and the movie franchise.

Yeah, I omitted that one in my comment, since Draven doesn't count any of the sequels in his head cannon. I do recall Highlander: Endgame pissed off series fans since it followed the movie rules instead of the TV rules. By that I mean how killing on holy ground was taboo but with no real consequences in the first two movies, but had grave supernatural repercussions in the TV series (Pompeii). However, the third movie, Highlander III: The Sorcerer/Highlander: The Final Dimension/Highlander: The Final Conflict, did follow the TV series rules.

In my opinion it's a good decision to use parts of the movie and the show to make a better remake. If they want a new franchise, the movie shouldn't include The Gathering.
