[movie] would have been great if [name] wasn't in it
What are some movies you thought were pretty good/great, but totally ruined by the casting and/or particular performance of a certain actor in a key role?

i think "Terminator 3" would have been a lot better without Stahl and Danes.
and Michael Madsen's performance in "Sin City" is always cringe inducing, but not nearly enough to take down the juggernaut feelings i have when i watch in gleeful delight.

[The last four Scorsese movies] would have been great if [DiCaprio] wasn't in them.

Cockfighter is hurt tremendously by the prescence of Richard B. Schull, a fine actor but jarringly wrong for the whole atmosphere. If they had cast, oh, Ned Beatty (the first appropriate person to come to mind) for his role the movie would have been perfect; as it is it's nearly perfect.

I really believe The Lord of the Rings movies are truly directorial masterpieces and I enjoy them very much. Until I come to Liv Tylers parts. I really would like to sit down with Peter and company over a beer and ask WTF!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Shelley Duvall nearly ruined Kubrick's The Shining which is impressive considering it borders on being a masterpiece!

I love Brazil but absolutely HATE Kim Greist! I don't buy her performance in any single scene.

I dunno that it would have been great, because it's riddled with problems, but I thought Matt Damon was pretty poorly miscast in The Brothers Grimm. I probably only noticed because of how amusing Heath Ledger was in comparison.
The movie sucks for other reasons, but I would have liked to see someone other than Shia LaBeouf in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. In fact, I might have swapped out pretty much all of the leads (Cate Blanchett, John Hurt, Ray Winstone, Jim Broadbent). They're all good actors and they do reasonably good work, but with the exception of Sean Connery, the other movies were never really star vehicles. I imagine they could have found less-famous, even cooler actors for the roles.

.....Nicolas Cage. He's added nothing to world of acting. Not to say I didn't enjoy Con Air, The Rock, and Face/Off...The Rock specifically could've totally cut out the character and made more Connery scenes and it'd be a damn fine film...Ed Harris balances out the crap that Cage was.

I love Pulp Fiction but i hate Quentin Tarantino's scene and that could go for everything else he's "acted" in.
