Titan A.E - On HBO

One of my favorites and the DVD considered a audio gem is showing on HBO this next week in case anyone is interested. In fact I cannot remember the last time it was even on period. I really enjoyed it and if it's in DD crank up the system, you're in for a treat.

Off DISH

7/17 - 7:30 pm Central
7/23 - 11:00 am Central
7/23 - 6:00 pm Central

Given it's listed at IMDB at 2.35:1, I'd be surprised if HBO shows it OAR.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO

Well I caught some of it tonight and yea visually it wasn't the same as the DVD but the audio presented in DD was pretty much on par. Not as crisp as the DVD version but it still kicked. The 'Ice Ring" scene is still one of the Top Five in my book. Soundtrack still pretty much rocks as well.

I liked the part where they flew the ship with the ghost-like creatures but the rest was eh.

I revisited my DVD of Titan A.E. yesterday (still fun after almost 15 years) and it left me wondering whatever became of Powerman 5000. Imagine my surprise to find out they still exist.

That's a great track.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO

The main single off of Titan AE was "Over My Head" by Lit. It's a damn good song and had its own video where they added the band to the film.

Also, speaking of Powerman 5000 they had a brand new song recorded just for Titan AE called The End is Over:

It's because of that track that I started thinking about them while watching the movie. Always liked that song.

I also liked "It's My Turn To Fly" by the Urge:

The whole sequence it appears in (the Wake Angels) was great.

Likewise. Also, looking back at it, Joss Whedon's influence and elements he would later incorporate in Firefly are clearly evident.

It's aggravating this has never had a BD release. The DVD sounds killer. Would love a lossless version of that sound mix.

I have the DVD and the cover looks nothing like the picture they have on Amazon for it. Pretty sure it's been on HBO On Demand or Starz On Demand lately.

Both this and Disney's 'Atlantis' set the bar for how loud an animated Hollywood feature could be

Coincidentally, Joss Whedon also has a screenwriter credit on Atlantis. Maybe once he's done with the MCU, he should work on an animated feature.

Yeah, I recall the sound in the scene where they're slowly going through all the ice things being particularly killer.

And as you guys have posted, I really enjoyed the music in the movie too. Damn it, now I want a blu-ray release.

It had a $75m budget and only grossed $22.7m domestically, $36.7m worldwide.

Not only did it fail to at least break even, it actually sank Fox Animation Studios (shortly after they had a huge hit with Anastasia).

IIRC, he fired the entire band at one point. Also somewhere along the line recorded an entire album that was never released and was scrapped.

Saw them live during a Summer Sanitarium tour a decade or so ago and they were a blast.

As for Titan AE, liked it but haven't revisited it in probably as long as it's been since I saw P5X live.

Titan AE is on Netflix in most regions outside of the US. So if you can change regions you can probably watch it.

I just noticed that Atlantis: The Lost Empire is on Netflix and you were not kidding about the sound. I definitely want to get the BD for that one.

Anyone For Doomsday was that album - it was finally released officially a couple of years ago. It was originally going to be released in 2001 but then 9/11 hit and with a title like that it didn't happen.

In 2011 they released a cover album and they did a cover of Space Oddity, which rocks.

I saw them several times over the years and also saw them at the Summer Sanitarium show at the Coliseum here in L.A.

One Thing Leads To Another is my favorite track off of it. The original is featured in House of the Devil.

Will this ever make it to Blu-Ray? I remember this being a significant DVD release (back when they were all fresh) in the day because it had both Dolby and DTS digital.

There's a couple of posts in this thread that explain it. Basically by using a VPN.

I love this movie. The only animated feature that I was unable to get original art from. I have a storyboard from "Nightmare Before Christmas" and cells from "The Simpsons" and "Pinky and the Brain" and production art from "Futurama", "Samurai Jack", "Family Guy" and "Clone Wars". Great soundtrack, fun (though predictable) story, and beautiful animation.

Yeah, Titan AE is a Don Bluth production - he did Space Ace and Dragon's Lair. Hell, Anastasia was also a Don Bluth production.
