Titan A.E - On HBO
One of my favorites and the DVD considered a audio gem is showing on HBO this next week in case anyone is interested. In fact I cannot remember the last time it was even on period. I really enjoyed it and if it's in DD crank up the system, you're in for a treat.
Off DISH 7/17 - 7:30 pm Central 7/23 - 11:00 am Central 7/23 - 6:00 pm Central |
Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
Given it's listed at IMDB at 2.35:1, I'd be surprised if HBO shows it OAR.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
Well I caught some of it tonight and yea visually it wasn't the same as the DVD but the audio presented in DD was pretty much on par. Not as crisp as the DVD version but it still kicked. The 'Ice Ring" scene is still one of the Top Five in my book. Soundtrack still pretty much rocks as well.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
I liked the part where they flew the ship with the ghost-like creatures but the rest was eh.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
this is one of those movies I WISHED I had seen on the big screen - I love to own this on bluray.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
Never gave a damn about this film....

Don Bluth.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
I revisited my DVD of Titan A.E. yesterday (still fun after almost 15 years) and it left me wondering whatever became of Powerman 5000. Imagine my surprise to find out they still exist.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
The main single off of Titan AE was "Over My Head" by Lit. It's a damn good song and had its own video where they added the band to the film.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/duE_pFsWWaA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Also, speaking of Powerman 5000 they had a brand new song recorded just for Titan AE called The End is Over: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0aopIlxZ1KQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

I loved Electrasy - 'Cosmic Castaway'

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
I still love this movie and wish it didn't bomb.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
My recollection was that this was a technical marvel but kind of a meh story. I haven't seen it in years, though.

It's aggravating this has never had a BD release. The DVD sounds killer. Would love a lossless version of that sound mix. |
Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
I have the DVD and the cover looks nothing like the picture they have on Amazon for it. Pretty sure it's been on HBO On Demand or Starz On Demand lately.

Likewise. Also, looking back at it, Joss Whedon's influence and elements he would later incorporate in Firefly are clearly evident.

I keep hearing Titan AE was a bomb, but it did really well at the theater I worked at.

Sooooooo a bomb, yes?
|
Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
Not only did it fail to at least break even, it actually sank Fox Animation Studios (shortly after they had a huge hit with Anastasia).

Saw them live during a Summer Sanitarium tour a decade or so ago and they were a blast. As for Titan AE, liked it but haven't revisited it in probably as long as it's been since I saw P5X live. |
Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
Titan AE is on Netflix in most regions outside of the US. So if you can change regions you can probably watch it.

In their current sale, FoxConnect.com has the DVD for $3.49 with the discount code 'SCORE'. Never having seen it, I ordered it myself.

IIRC, he fired the entire band at one point. Also somewhere along the line recorded an entire album that was never released and was scrapped.

In 2011 they released a cover album and they did a cover of Space Oddity, which rocks. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/vV2tC3vrT-c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I saw them several times over the years and also saw them at the Summer Sanitarium show at the Coliseum here in L.A. |

One Thing Leads To Another is my favorite track off of it. The original is featured in House of the Devil. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/KHXX3jSh-ZE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
Will this ever make it to Blu-Ray? I remember this being a significant DVD release (back when they were all fresh) in the day because it had both Dolby and DTS digital.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
Titan AE bored me to tears. Skip this awful movie.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
I love this movie. The only animated feature that I was unable to get original art from. I have a storyboard from "Nightmare Before Christmas" and cells from "The Simpsons" and "Pinky and the Brain" and production art from "Futurama", "Samurai Jack", "Family Guy" and "Clone Wars". Great soundtrack, fun (though predictable) story, and beautiful animation.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO
Yeah, Titan AE is a Don Bluth production - he did Space Ace and Dragon's Lair. Hell, Anastasia was also a Don Bluth production.
