Re: Titan A.E - On HBO

Not only did it fail to at least break even, it actually sank Fox Animation Studios (shortly after they had a huge hit with Anastasia).

IIRC, he fired the entire band at one point. Also somewhere along the line recorded an entire album that was never released and was scrapped.

Saw them live during a Summer Sanitarium tour a decade or so ago and they were a blast.

As for Titan AE, liked it but haven't revisited it in probably as long as it's been since I saw P5X live.

Titan AE is on Netflix in most regions outside of the US. So if you can change regions you can probably watch it.

How do you change Netflix regions?

In their current sale, FoxConnect.com has the DVD for $3.49 with the discount code 'SCORE'. Never having seen it, I ordered it myself.

I just noticed that Atlantis: The Lost Empire is on Netflix and you were not kidding about the sound. I definitely want to get the BD for that one.

Anyone For Doomsday was that album - it was finally released officially a couple of years ago. It was originally going to be released in 2001 but then 9/11 hit and with a title like that it didn't happen.

In 2011 they released a cover album and they did a cover of Space Oddity, which rocks.

I saw them several times over the years and also saw them at the Summer Sanitarium show at the Coliseum here in L.A.

That cover album is excellent.

One Thing Leads To Another is my favorite track off of it. The original is featured in House of the Devil.

Will this ever make it to Blu-Ray? I remember this being a significant DVD release (back when they were all fresh) in the day because it had both Dolby and DTS digital.

There's a couple of posts in this thread that explain it. Basically by using a VPN.

Re: Titan A.E - On HBO

I love this movie. The only animated feature that I was unable to get original art from. I have a storyboard from "Nightmare Before Christmas" and cells from "The Simpsons" and "Pinky and the Brain" and production art from "Futurama", "Samurai Jack", "Family Guy" and "Clone Wars". Great soundtrack, fun (though predictable) story, and beautiful animation.

Yeah, Titan AE is a Don Bluth production - he did Space Ace and Dragon's Lair. Hell, Anastasia was also a Don Bluth production.

He also co-directed this movie (as well as Anastasia). I don't recall if he was the sole director or a co-director for The Secret of NIHM, An American Tail, and The Land Before Time.

imdb denotes Bluth as sole director for NIMH, Tail and Land.

Yeah, I was going to say that Bluth was a huge name in non-Disney animation in the '80s.
