I can see the horror element to Jaws, but when I answer the question asked, the answer for me is Halloween. If you just asked which movie is your favorite of the two, I'd probably go Jaws.

So for this poll, I went with Halloween.

Both The THING and THE SHINING are better than either of these movies. Ugh. Halloween, I suppose...

Halloween is one of the lamest pieces of garbage ever! While I agree that Jaws is not "horror" by today's standards, it should be looked at in it's context. In it's day it was the shizzle. (Using that same argument I suppose Halloween was "groundbreaking" in it's day -- but today it is lame and been ripped off too many times to have any impact.)

Jaws

Though I'd watch The Exorcist or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(74) before either of the aforementioned films.

They might be better at fitting the definition of horror, but neither are better films than Jaws, not even close.

Re: Horror Tournament Round #6/Championship

I've never considered JAWS a horror film. It's a wildlife adventure about man vs. shark.

The Thing.

I think Jaws is a superior film to Halloween, however I don't think it's a horror film, so my vote goes to Halloween by default.

Jaws by a mile. John Carpenter is incredibly overrated. BTW, I can't believe The Shining lost. What a crock.

Re: Horror Tournament Round #6/Championship

My wife voted for Jaws. I would agree with her, if for no other reason than this: We're about to hit summertime, and even after all this time, that movie still crosses our minds anytime we're near the beach.
