Re: Natasha Richardson dies at 45
It's just odd that she was ok after the accident, but succumb to whatever it was hours later. I guess the facilities at the local hospital weren't equipped to really check her out? And I can only imagine that maybe flying back home worsened her condition? It's just so, so sad and strange. An accident on a bunny slope of all things.
Map of Mont Tremblant
Spoiler:
(She was reportedly on the path circled in red, Equilibre would be the equal of the bunny slope)
That said, there seems to be a conflict between what the resort people said and the way she was treated. They commented that she just fell, nothing special about it. ... Paramedics are not usually called nor is a toboggan ride to the bottom normal for a regular wipeout (which happen frequently when you're new to it). Helmets are pretty rare for skiing as well (though head injuries do account for 90% of the maybe 50 ski/snowboard related deaths annually in the US) and generally aren't encouraged the same way they are for snowboarders.
Regardless, terrible news and hopefully we'll get the "real, full story" at some point in time.

I also thought she was terrific in the little seen and not very highly regarded "Blow Dry". It was a film that surprised me actually. A movie that was broad like "Strictly Ballroom" and "Muriel's Wedding", yet very tender.

Wow, this is sad. RIP.
I certainly recognized her name, but after checking out what she had been in, I was surprised that I hadn't seen many of her movies. One I really liked (and probably what I recognized her from most) was Fat Man and Little Boy, with Paul Newman.

What a shame. She was a talented actress and will be missed. To pass away at 45 years old certainly puts life in perspective.

FWIW, given the relatively rapid onset, it was likely an epidural head bleed.

It took me a minute...I didn't realize that the moderator had updated the title and found this post to be in very poor taste.
Shouldn't the old thread have been just closed and a new one started? Or perhaps the title made a little bit clearer....like "UPDATE: Deceased?"
Just sayin....people coming to this thread for the first time and seeing those first responses are going to be wondering.

I just saw the news and had to come here. I dunno. I just didn't want it to be true as I was really hoping she'd pull through.
I did smile a little bit when I saw Lauren Bacall swat away all those photographers so she could get into the hospital. She was there to offer support not for a photo op.
I know this is news and they were just doing their job but they shouldn't have practically barricaded the hospital entrance like that. They could have easily stood aside and taken whatever pictures they were hired to take from a respectful distance.

I can't even imagine what Liam, the kids, and everyone in her life is going through. It's incredible how quickly something fun and "safe" can turn tragic.

Tragic News indeed. It wouldn't surprise me if Liam takes a long and extended break from acting to mourn his loss.
It appears her final film role was something called "Wild Child"

Was this ever released? Never heard of it.

Indeed. I've seen several of her films over the decades, and she was a rather talented actress. Most don't know who she is.

Re: Natasha Richardson dies at 45
Just last week my 8-year-old son hit his head pretty hard against an iron-made, pointy banister support in the school playground. He started bleeding profusely and they took him to emergency. He never lost consciousness and was lucid throughouth -and eventually he didn't even need stitches- but it was a hell of a scare.
