Big Lebowski question
 
How did Larry's homework end up in The Dude's car?

The only thing that I can think of is that Larry took the car for a joyride after it was stolen.

Isn't it implied in the movie that he stole the car to joyride? I don't see why you'd think anything else.

It's not directly stated that HE did, but that's the implication. They go to confront him, but he stonewalls them so I guess it's a mystery that will never be solved.

maybe I am wrong but I always assummed the dude's car was really old and he obviously bought it used, therefore it was a homework assignment that was sitting in the crevis of the seat for a long time.........I always just thought that the dude never realised it was there the whole time he had the car........and that kids family was probably one of the former owners of the car.....
