Jane Austen vs. Predator

Yep, it's called Pride and Predator from Elton John's Rocket Pictures:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR111...goryid=13&cs=1

Elton John's Rocket Pictures hopes to make the first Jane Austen adaptation
to which men will drag their girlfriends.
Will Clark is set to direct "Pride and Predator," which veers from the traditional period costume drama when an alien crash lands and begins to butcher the mannered protags, who suddenly have more than marriage and inheritance to worry about.

Shooting will begin in London later this year. John exec produces, and his Rocket partners Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish are producing.

Clark, who directed award-winning short "The Amazing Trousers," wrote the script with Andrew Kemble and John Pape.

"It felt like a fresh and funny way to blow apart the done-to-death Jane Austen genre by literally dropping this alien into the middle of a costume drama, where he stalks and slashes to horrific effect," Furnish said.

John will supervise the music, as he does in each Rocket-produced film.

The company is in production on the CG-animated "Gnomeo and Juliet" for Miramax/Disney; James McAvoy and Emily Blunt voice the title characters. Rocket is also behind the Sundance series "Spectacle: Elvis Costello With ..."

Interesting. I'm more looking forward to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, though.

The title is funny, movie will probably suck though.

Re: Jane Austen vs. Predator

The idea probably would have been funnier if it was a monster like Jason or Mike Meyers, but Mars Attacks! was hilarious so this could have some promise.

This could potentially be the worst movie ever made.

I am disturbingly intrigued by this idea and would like to subscribe to the newsletter.

Re: Jane Austen vs. Predator

What is up with this classics mash-up trend? Honestly, I'd never heard about it until reading about the Jane Austen zombie book earlier today but it seems like there are a dozen different projects popping up all of a sudden. Not that it's surprising that studios/publishers are jumping on a bandwagon, except for the fact that the bandwagon hasn't even taken off yet!

Re: Jane Austen vs. Predator

When I read the title...I was slightly interested into seeing Jane Austen fight The Predator. How sad that it's not like that..

In that fight, my money would be on The Predator.

I thought that too. It's definitely a better idea than Pride and Predator.

No shit...but imagine seeing a Jane Austen in her period dress vs. a Predator...for some reason it gives me good imagery. Good locations too...however ridiculous it is....

I'm only sold if this includes Keira Knightley.

Re: Jane Austen vs. Predator

Oddly enough I imagined Keira Knightley, as Stone Cold Jane Austen, vs The Predator. I still hold on to my playful imagination..

Re: Jane Austen vs. Predator

I could see how a Predator would mistake Keira Knightly for an Alien.

The sci-fi authors Brenda Clough and Ryk Spoor have been talking for years about writing Pride and Extreme Prejudice and Terminators of Endearment.
