Lee Marvin also did not become a big star until he was in his 40s.

Morgan Freeman was 50 when Street Smart made him a star.

He had is own radio show with Lauren Bacall, "BOLD VENTURE".
I'm a big old time radio fan, but I've never heard Bold Venture. I've wanted to check it out for a while, though.

I should check Radio Spirits again to see if they've got it on CD.

You do know that the pot-bust was a set up by the LA County Sheriff, who was pissed that Howard Hughes refused to pay the shakedown fees that the other studio bosses did.

I have. An unusual casting choice, to say the least. WB really had no idea what to do with him in the early years.

Radio Spirts does not have a BOLD VENTURE collection on CD.
Cassette only.
If you have a MP3 Player, there are plenty of sellers on EBAY for Bogart radio shows.

I also like the radio pilot for THE HUMPHREY BOGART THEATER.
Too bad a series was never made. Bogie would have chosen what stories
to adapt and then either play the lead or a smaller role in the radio play.

Just caught Up The River on TCM the other day. It's Bogie's second movie, made when he was only 30. He is so young and thin that it takes a while to get used to seeing him like that.

A dreary early John Ford talky, rife with missing frames and flat performances, this is recommended only for hardcore Bogie/Ford completists, though there is mild entertainment value in watching Bogie and Spenser Tracy on-screen together. A pity the film itself is such a forgettable stinker.
