I watched Predator 2 on DVD and never cared to watch it again and traded it away.

Larry Fishburne is in this, that's not a good sign.

How many reviews before it gets warranted a tomato-rating? Cos all the reviews are "fresh" but the score is still 0%.

But the 'not as good as the first one' and rationalizing about 'B movie fun' only reinforces my fears about Fishburne.

I won't be in a hurry to see this, I'll 'legally purchase' it later on some time.

Of course it isn't going to "be as good as the first one" and the entire franchise is B movie fun - it isn't rationalizing, just stating the truth in what the franchise is. That said, none of the reviews are from major sources. The original currently has a 76% on the same site.

Nothing will ever beat the original. It's bad ass and nostalgia makes it even more bad ass. But it is still 'B-movie fun'.

As long as it's a good film w/ a consistent level of badass I think it's ok. I mean...you can't trump the original. It was the era that clearly gave birth to how awesome it was.

Only 5 reviews are in, but at least they're all positive, so that's a good start. Rotten Tomatoes has the runtime at 107 minutes. This Summer has stunk on action movies, so I really hope this one makes up for it. I'm very pumped about seeing it on Sunday.

Interesting how this thread is shifting away from Predators itself and more about whether or not Rodriguez sucks as a director (regarding a film he didn't direct) and how everybody thinks all films suck except the ones they like.

....it's the internet. Also this is DVDtalk where our level of serious can easily actually be sarcasm...maybe.

13 for 13 so far, this is a good sign. No one's claiming it's the second coming of Arnie's Predator, but at least it appears to be a worthy "sequel." (which is more than can be said of anything else with the word Predator in it in the time since).

Holy shit, I'm not one to be hurt by spoilers...I in fact love knowing as much about the film's story (and if given the chance to read the script..which I've done before) and whatnot..but Wikipedia has the whole plot in there and...uh wow..that's a badass action movie there. I can't wait to see what they put up there on the screen.

I was all psyched to watch this and even re-watched the original Predator last night. But the theatre I always go to isn't showing this so hopefully I'll be able to see this tonight.

I think pretty much every movie on wikipedia has the entire plot spelled out, including movies with twists.

I know....but what I meant was that that detailed plot was out before the film.
