I hate Wil Ferrell in anything but a supporting role, co-starring at the very most.
This is going to be a rental, at best. |
Re: Land of the Lost Thread
This movie looks retarded, unless it was filmed in that way if it's going to be shown in 3D? Every scene looked like it was filmed for that purpose, as in Fraser's Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D movie...

Re: Land of the Lost Thread
The trailer actually surprised me a bit in that I thought it would look like total shit and it doesn't. I'll probably check this one out.

Part of the fun in watching the old 70's show now is the cheesy special effects and the 70's style quality of it. It would be hard for them to do this without it being a comedy. If they were to try to do it seriously, would it be much different than Jurassic Park 2 when they were on the island?

Back then everything was chromakeyed. |

I think they did the best to recreate the cheesiness of the original show with modern technology.

The intro of the show never seemed to coincide with the series itself. The intro suggest that they they plummeted 1,000 feet down a waterfall in a cavern. Which would mean that the Land of the Lost was underground. Yet, in all the episodes you could see a sun and sky. In may episodes it suggested they were in some other dimension and some they time travelled back in time on earth. Which one was it?

Re: Land of the Lost Thread

During the fall in the waterfall, they passed thru a "mist" that was a doorway into another time/deminsion/world. The "pylons" were also used for transporting. |
Re: Land of the Lost Thread
Are Danny McBride and John C. Reilly interchangable Will Ferrell sidekicks?

Re: Land of the Lost Thread
I guess the original series has went out of print. I only have the first season. I wonder if Rhino even has the rights anymore? This would be the perfect time for a re-release.

Re: Land of the Lost Thread
Anna Friel put me over the top in wanting to see this.

Re: Land of the Lost Thread
It looks funny.
In the original, they fell into a pocket dimension built by the ancient ancestors of the Sleestak (who had since devolved into primitives). Different pylons across the land controlled different aspects of the dimension, like time or the progression of the celestial bodies in the sky. The dimension was such that in one episode they climbed one of the mountains that surrounded the valley and looked out with binocculars and saw themselves from behind. There were a lot of cool ideas in the show that could be perfect for a primetime TV remake, but isn't "Lost" pretty close as it is? |
Re: Land of the Lost Thread
Kinda surprisingly they are going the PG-13 rating for this one. I say well done Universal:
PG-13 for crude and sexual content, language including drug refrences http://www.landofthelost.net/ |
Re: Land of the Lost Thread
Did you really expect Land of the Lost to be R?
|
Re: Land of the Lost Thread
I expected it to be PG so I am happy it is rated PG-13.

I know it's an old post but I'd never seen that before. |
Re: Land of the Lost Thread
I'll be seeing this Tuesday in Austin with the Director Brad Silberling and composer Michael Giacchino in attendance. Marty Krofft is supposed to be there as well.
I'll let you guys know what I think about it once that time rolls around. |
Re: Land of the Lost Thread
That sounds like it should be pretty awesome.
|
Re: Land of the Lost Thread
trailers make it look like it will be a lot of fun.

Re: Land of the Lost Thread
I'll most likely be seeing it. Although I'm not the biggest Will Ferrill fan, the fact the movie has Danny McBride and Anna Friel in it might make up for it. And it's also directed by Brad Silberling, who gave my childhood a good moment with Casper. Even if it's underwhelming, it is more than likely that it will be better than Transformers and its upcoming sequel combined.
