Random Die Hard 2 question

In Die HArd 2 the terrorist were getting their weapons through airport security because they were using some sort of porcelain or clay guns. Do these really exist?

I have just called the cops and they have your information. Jump out of your bedroom window now and run.

A quick Google search of "die hard porcelain guns" brings this: http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread.php?t=532785

Contrary to popular movies like Die Hard 2: Die Harder, neither Glock nor any other gun maker has ever produced a "porcelain", "ceramic" or "plastic" firearm which is undetectable by ordinary security screening devices. Even if a pistol completely undetectable by either X-ray machines or metal detectors were to be developed, the ammunition inside would still be detectable.

In Die Hard 2, the character John McClane portrayed by Bruce Willis specifically referred to a non-existent "Glock 7" with many fictitious characteristics:

That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me! You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport X-ray machines, and it costs more than you make here in a month!

Mike Papac, an armorer at Cinema Weaponry, which supplied the Glock pistols used in Die Hard 2, has stated, "I remember when we did that scene, I tried to talk them out of it. There's no such thing as a gun invisible to metal detectors, and there shouldn't be, but they wouldn't budge. They had it written into the script and that was that."

I thought the gun in the movie In The Line Of Fire was much more believable. The gun was plastic and the bullets bypassed security concealed in a rabbits foot key chain. Key chains go through security these days but back then that would have worked.

Well that just ruins Die Hard 2 for me. I mean, the rest of the movie is so realistic and plausible.

Yeah, that was the first site that came up on Google. I tried to find the appropriate Wikipedia pages but I couldn't find where he had pulled all that info from.

The Glock is a real gun but the facts stated in Die Hard was false. The Glock is made of a polymer and has enough metal to set off any metal detector . Now this was made when the Glock had just come onto the market. GUn enthuasiasts would have spotted the BS but joe public probably not. It was a case of taking a bit of truth and lying to make it sound much much more impressive

Re: Random Die Hard 2 question

Could the head of a major airport be a viable Presidential candidate?

Compared to Die Hard 4... yes.
Michael Scott: You know what, here's the thing about Die Hard 4. Die Hard one, the original, John McClane was just this normal guy. You know, he's just a normal New York City cop, who gets his feet cut, and gets beat up. But he's an everyday guy. In Die Hard 4, he is jumping a motorcycle into a helicopter. In air. You know? He's invincible. It just sort of lost what Die Hard was. It's not Terminator.
