RIP Sam Bottoms
Sam Bottoms, film and tv actor best know as the surfer-turned-GI Lance Johnson in Francis Ford Coppola's 1979 Vietnam war epic Apocalypse Now passed away on Tuesday from glioblestoma multiforme, a virulent brain cancer, said his wife, Laura Bickford. He was 53.

That's terrible to hear, I had no idea he was ill. I actually met him several years ago, really a great guy.
