Josh Lucas - Hulk, Stealth, and Poseidon. (Sorry man, three strikes and you're out)

i wouldn't consider STEALTH or POSEIDON as "star-making" vehicles. you should check out UNDERTOW if you want a good josh lucas performance.

Edward Burns failed to do this (15 Minutes, Life or Something Like It, etc.)
and the winner of this thread had to be Thomas Jane. I feel bad for the poor guy. Film after film he stars in bombs hard and/or he doesnt seem to get the respect he should. The Mist, Dreamcatcher, Punisher, Sweetest Thing, Deep Blue Sea, etc.

Vin Diesel

I'm gonna say Isla Fisher -- Really she's headlining her own movie?

Guy Pierce? Great movies, great performances, yet hasn't had his due yet.

Chris O'Donnell was supposed to be the next Tom Cruise, but that didn't work out.
