I mean some people on this board have dozens of blind buys that they've had for years and never watched. I'd consider that considerably more "psycho" than peacing out of a movie that you find frustrating, but were trying to give a fair shake. I'll most likely go back and finish it.

And some people eat at Red Lobster. I'd consider that to be the most psycho behavior of all.

I’m not ashamed to admit I used to eat the shit out of their “Endless Shrimp” deal. It’s been a few years since I’ve had it though. I’m not sure if they still do or not.

Psycho behavior is NOT taking advantage of that!

That depends. Exactly how many unwatched DVDs do you have?

Even at Red Lobster, the shrimp themselves taste much better than their shit, you should try that instead.

Hey, I’ll eat anything if there’s enough cocktail sauce on it!

I'd bag on you for that statement, except I've made a similar one about eating anything if it's wrapped in a warm corn tortilla with cilantro and onions sprinkled over it.

Ebert's commentary is also worth a listen. In addition to the background of the production, he goes over a lot of the technical details, including that a table was cut in half for the camera to travel through it, and an object on the table wobbles when it comes back together, the use of optical printers to combine shots for special effects, and also reusing materials from other movies, pointing out one shot at Xanadu with a pterodactyl flying in the background.

Can't stress this enough. It may be the most informative and interesting commentary of all time, IMO.

Re: I just saw Citizen Kane for the first time.

Another wonderful "How did they do that?" commentary is John Frankenheimer on Ronin. That and Roger Ebert's Citizen Kane commentary are Filmmaking 101.

Wait, I thought critics didn't know anything more than anyone else, and since all opinions are subjective, no opinion is worth more than any other?

If there's a fight to pick there, you're picking it out of the ether because I don't know what you're getting at here.

You have not read it thread after thread, year after year, when someone brings up that a movie or a song is on a "best of" critics' list that people will post that critic's opinions don't mean anything or that the source of an opinion does not matter because all opinions are subjective? Because I've read it a lot.

Ebert wasn't giving us his top-10 list. He was stating some very interesting facts about the film. It was incredibly informative.

I have not heard the commentary, but I am going to go out on a limb that in addition to his informational analysis, he threw in some praise for Welles, Toland, and the film.

But just for the sake of pressing my point because that's who I am. Ebert did list Citizen Kane as one of the ten greatest movies ever made. Does that opinion count for more to you than any other subjective opinion? Because there are a lot of people who will tell you that CK sucks and is boring. Isn't every person's subjective opinion about a creative work of equal worth? I don't think so, but you sure hear that kind of thinking around here a lot.
