I would love to see a band of their caliber doing a theme, but with the skewing towards younger audiences, I have a feeling that won't be happening anytime soon.

Just toss You Can't Always Get What You Want in as the opening song, and I'll be a happy camper.

I would think the producers would choose someone Americans have actually heard of. Oasis would be a good fit.

I'm a huge Bond fan and the only thing I really liked about Casino Royale was the theme song. That song ruled.

But is the theme even that important these days to even worry about the demographic? The last tune I even remember is Tomorrow Never Dies by Sheryl Crow, which was a decade ago. That's why I recommended instrumental. It just seems the recent themes are an afterthought these days and not integral to the movie at all. More of a "look who we signed" than actually getting someone who can actually come up with a decent tune.

I agree, provided someone else handles the music. He has the voice (although as he gets older it's starting to fade) and the talent to write a good set of lyrics (and keep in mind, the bar for Bond theme lyrics isn't too high).

I was planning on saying Williams as well. Millennium samples "You Only Live Twice" to great effect, the video is a 100% tribute to Bond, and Williams himself has a tremendous voice. He could do an amazing retro style bond theme, possibly in the league of Thunderball.

Harry, interestingly enough with Blondie was set to do the theme to For Your Eyes Only. Having heard it, I think they made a mistake going with Sheena Easton.



These names aside though, I would love to see Bassey do one more. IMO, there are Shirley Bassey Bond songs and then there are all the rest; even the lyrically oddity that is Moonraker is amazing to listen to just because she's the one singing it. The woman is pure class and criminally underrated. She may be 70 but she still has it. Just two years ago:

Going through those alternate Bond themes I really would have picked Alice Cooper for "Man with the Golden Gun". That song by Lulu sucks.
