Reportedly, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Abrahms were at Wondercon and introduced the new trailer. I missed it but from what I hear, the trailer was pretty cool.

Re: Star Trek XI (Abrams, 2009) - Part 2
Today at the IDW Comics panel at WonderCon, they discussed the Transformers, G.I. Joe and Star Trek prequel comics. When it came time to talk about Star trek's prequel comics, they were talking about how the Next Generation cast plays an important role in the story of the prequel and that in the last issue, (issue 4 I believe) it ends in a major cliffhanger with Nero that leads right into the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie.
"The end of issue 4 is a cliffhanger and is going to continue in the first few minutes of the movie."
Right after that was said, another writer (or artist) said that part of the movie will take place with the Next Generation cast and to look out for that. Another guy on the panel gave him a quick "uh oh" look.
After that, someone from the audience asked "So are members of the Next Generation cast in the new Trek movie?" to which the same guy replied, "I really cannot say anything about that."
Oops! I think you already did!
So that's news to me. I never thought of J.J. Abrams tying in the Next Generation cast to this remake of the Trek universe. Do the Next Generation guys have something to do with Nero's appearance as the villain in the new Trek movie? Because Nero is a character in the prequel comics with the Next generation cast.
Does the cliffhanger and the beginning of the Trek movie involve the Next generation cast? And who in the cast would return?
I video taped the panel, so look for that soon. For now, it's debate time! Did J.J. put characters from Next Generation into the beginning of his Trek movie?

New trailer is the best one yet. I think it looks great.

Okay, I'm officially excited. This may be the highest grossing Trek film when all is said and done. That looks like it will attrack average viewers too.

Looks awesome. I've never cared for TOS, and only enjoyed Khan and The Undiscovered Country as far as TOS movies went.
This actually gets me excited to see the early days. I've never doubted how iconic these characters are. I just couldn't get past the cheese factor of the original show.
But this looks outstanding.

The new trailer is great...shows that the movie is really going to be STAR TREK (i.e. great character relationships) and not just a special effects shoot em up.
The only part I didn't like from the new trailer was Bana's laughable "fire everything!" line.

I actually enjoyed that line. It sounded real. There was a sense of anger, desperation and panic all present at the same time.

you can watch it properly in HD there. I'm still not sure, not sure I'm ready for a new Kirk. But they said next gen would fail/suck too so, we'll see.

I've been lukewarm to this film ever since I read about it. I like OS Trek, but I'm not a fan of any other series, really. That new trailer is the best of the 3 I've seen so far. I'm going to keep my expectations in check but, knowing this is Abrams, I'm hoping to have them blown away.

I think this'll be the underperforming big one of the summer.
I do think'll it'll do better than Speed Racer but am gonna predict it only does $65-$80 million.

^I really hope it's not M-i-III all over again - JJ Abrams makes a solid movie but people stay away because of the stigma of the franchise, having it underperform at the box office...and then discovering on video that the movie was pretty decent. (assuming Star Trek is in fact, decent).

I've never been interested in Star Trek: never seen a movie or been able to sit through an entire TV episode.
But this looks cool.
