Give 'em Hell, Malone- Pulp Noir with Thomas Jane
Give 'em Hell, Malone
Director: Russell Mulcahy (Highlander, Highlander II, Resident Evil: Extinction, and The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior)
A tough private eyes takes a job retrieving a case containing a mysterious secret. Bullets, fist, and blood fly as he fights through an army of thugs to protect the secret.
Based off that director's work, I hear Highlander is good and that II had a shit ton of problems in production btw, I'm very cautious about this. The trailer gives no story essentially but..that first bit in the trailer made me somewhat interested in this. Just by looking at it, looks like a pulp noir...which I love noir in a many fashion. Trailer's visual quality looks kinda shitty, so it's not polished I assume. May be a fun film which is always good..still cautious though...

Wow, some of the visuals in that trailer are great. The dude that was on fire....
Watched The Punisher the other night. What a terrible movie that was. Still, Jane is a cool screen presence. I would love to see him in some quality movies. Maybe this will be the start of that. (Although I thought The Mist was decent.)

I've always been a big champion of the underrated Thomas Jane, ever since his scene-stealing turn in Boogie Nights, but the director's previous filmography gives me serious pause.

The song "Bad to the bone" should never be used again. It's overplayed and just stupid cheese. The mistake of this trailer as well as the Punisher trailer is that you don't play that type of music to a violent action movie - it's just cliched overkill.
Action movie trailers should have just the opposite - such as classical music...

Only adding to the fact that the search on here is an on and off kind of deal. Sometimes it's fantastic other times..it's a wtf kind of machine.

This was dreadful. It was a chore to finish and I almost bailed midway through. Looking back on it I wish I had. Did I mention it was dreadful?

Then I guess it wasn't as good as it looks. Because it looks good. But it did look like it could be bad.

I was also disappointed in this. It started off pretty good, but then just spiraled down fast.
Doug Hutchinson is a good actor, but his character "Matchstick" was just fucking terrible...he felt like the villain of a B grade super hero movie

Just saw this and I thought it was awesomely bad. There were times I was laughing at intended jokes and times where I was laughing at the terrible dialogue, effects, or mannerisms. I did have more fun watching this than The Spirit because at least the jokes weren't awful and the intro was sort-of cool with it's ripoff of Shoot Em Up. Plus Jane's character's weapon of choice was a Mateba Autorevolver, so that was cool.
Definitely worth a watch but don't expect an even-paced film as it does drag.

No way. Fuck that. Tom Jane comes across as a guy who loves making smaller movies with newer talent. I'm sure that he could be in bigger movies if he wanted.
I didn't really like 'Malone. It seemed like it could be so cool. But most of the detective-noir stuff just fell flat. I felt what they were going for. But it just wasn't very appealing in the end.
