My favorite of his novels was Sphere. The block text that Jerry uses to communicate will always stick in my mind as a creepy memory. I also thought Timeline was particularly great, and I was glad his newer books like that were as good as his older work. The way he balanced the technical with the entertaining was always my favorite aspect of his novels.

Like many, he hadn't even crossed my mind recently, especially not in terms of failing health or having some sort of problem, so I was shocked and sad to read this news. RIP.

RIP Crichton. Thanks for creating ER; one of the best TV dramas of all-time.
