Night - loved
Dawn - loved
Day - loved
Land - really really liked (hated the main overacting zombie)
Diary - I can't even remember how it ended.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this new one...

I absolutely love Dawn.
I'm a big fan of Night.
I was actually pretty disappointed with Day but I think I need to see it again and reserve final judgement.
I saw Land in theatres and then again on video and it really didn't do anything for me. I was pretty let down actually.
I didn't even bother seeing Diary.
I've only seen one non-zombie Romero movie and that's Martin, which I think is a fantastic movie.
Do I think Romero should stop making the Dead films? Absolutely not! The more zombies in the world the better. I think maybe someday he could make a another fantastic zombie movie. This new one could be the one. I have hope.

Dawn is the best, by far. Not only does it succeed as a horror film, but it also works as a fantastic action flick as well as a phenomenal piece of social satire.
Night is an amazing horror film that also has some great social commentary. There are some bits and pieces that I can do without, but it's easy to overlook, especially since the film is very fast paced for it's time.
I feel Day's first two acts are a chore to get through. The pace is too slow (mostly due to last minute budget cuts) and the acting got worse, but the third act is fantastic (until the final minute or two where the budget cuts show again).
Land and Diary, as previously mentioned, everyone knows where I stand.

Although Land is flawed, I still enjoy it for what it is...mainstream. I enjoyed Diary alot. But I can see where the third act failed. I think Diary recieves far to much criticism for what it it is, Romero at his roots, low budget.

I'm going to address a couple of previous points:
-I would love to see an HBO mini-series based on Walking Dead (The second best writen zombie fiction)
-I rank the Romero zombie movies in order of release (with two loves, two likes, and one final meh). I hope this trend does not continue.
-Romero is a great director IMO. My all time favorite, number one greatest, bestest movie of all time was directed by Romero and is neither a zombie movie nor horror.
-I will see any zombie movie made by Romero with an open mind (wanting to like it). I owe the father of my favorite subgenre that much, at least.

It's a real shame Romero didn't get to do more movies like this. I like horror as much (or probably a helluva lot more, actually) than the next guy, but GAR has much more to offer than zombies. I'd love to see more movies like "Martin" or "Monkey Shines" from the guy if he could get the chance to make 'em.

Two movies that fans love, one that wasn't quite as good but still respected because it was the end of the series, but then after twenty years he made additional films that sucked, causing fans to reevaluate the earlier one.

The trend is very different that Lucas'. I don't think they're comparable at all in terms of trajectory, especially because one made a series with one continuous story and the other made a series of films based around an idea. Romero has also made plenty of none zombie films over his career, where Lucas as mostly done Star Wars.
In my opinion, I've enjoyed all of Romero's dead films, Dawn being my favorite and Land maybe being my least, but I like them just fine.
And people that reevaluate their outlook of a film based on the directors succeeding works have worthless opinions to me.
So I am looking forward to the new film, glad it'll be out this year, and I hope it gets a wider release than Diary.

I love the original trilogy. "Day" is woefully underrated.
"Land" was a huge disappointment, and "Diary" looked like some backyard movie produced my 12 year olds.

I really hope this turns out good. I still waiting to see if Simon Pegg tries again. Shawn of the Dead ranks for me right behind Dawn of the Dead as my favorite zombies films ever!!!

I continue to be surprised at the rate Romero is churning these out. Then again, maybe not -- thus far the model looks to be quantity over quality.
