Possible Sequel to Wall Street

Definitely sounds like a winner!
As Wall Street continues to capture headlines due to market volatility, 20th Century Fox is moving forward with a "Wall Street" sequel.
Allan Loeb ("21") has been tapped to pen the screenplay, which is being fast-tracked by the studio as a Michael Douglas starrer, though the actor is not formally attached.
The modern-day story will again center on Gordon Gekko, who has recently been sprung from prison and re-emerges into a much more tumultuous financial world than the one he once lorded over. The Bud Fox character, played by Charlie Sheen in the original, will not appear in the latest incarnation.
Edward R. Pressman, who produced the 1987 Oliver Stone-helmed film, is aboard to produce.
Loeb, whose credits also include DreamWorks' "Things We Lost in the Fire," is a licensed stockbroker who once worked at the Chicago Board of Trade. He is involved in a number of projects around town, including "Baster" at Columbia Pictures and a remake of French comedy "The Valet" at Paramount.

Really not interested in this.
"Wall Street" seems like a movie that doesn't need a sequel. Even less so without Oliver Stone's involvement.

LaBeouf Joining Douglas in Wall Street Sequel
Source: Variety
April 28, 2009
"Variety reports that 20th Century Fox has signed Oliver Stone to return as director of the sequel to his 1987 hit Wall Street.
Shia LaBeouf ("Transformers" films) is negotiating to join Michael Douglas, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Gordon Gekko in the original film. The sequel will once again involve a young Wall Street trader, and the recent economic meltdown spurred by rampant greed and corruption will fit prominently into the plot.
Allan Loeb wrote the script. Edward R. Pressman is back as producer."
I hope they get this together and make it as fast as they did W.
I think this could be potentially extremely interesting if done correctly. And it'll be nice for Stone to get back into R-rated territory.

Gekko went to jail at the end of the first movie...I hope they give a plausible explanation about how he was ever allowed to run a company again - assuming that's what his characater's doing. It will also be nice to see Douglas in a decent movie again...he's made some bad choices as of late. The last thing I really liked him in was Traffic and Wonder Boys, and those were almost 10 years ago.

it's so unexpected as Oliver Stone denied any involvement with this sequel many times.it's either 1)he has something to say about the current affairs or 2)wants more money.
