Moulin Rouge for me as well. I didnt really think much about it when hearing about it but after seeing ut I really liked it.
Also Love, Actually. I freely went to see it but thought the trailer was shitty and went in with very low expectations. I really went to see it cause how can one not see an R-rated 135 minutes film with a star-studded cast. Needless to say I loved it and it became one of my top top 3 favorite romantic comedies of all time. Its also one of my top X-mas movies.

Another vote for Hairspray. I have to say, I was just about literally kicking and screaming, going to see this. But I have a young teenage daughter who saw this in the theater NINE times, and there was no way I was getting out of this one. I have to say, after watching it, it's actually a lot of fun, has great songs, great performances, and reminded me a lot of Grease (not in the subject matter, as much as just the "feel").
It's a bit heavy-handed, yes, but just shrug that off, if you haven't seen it, and enjoy it.
