Worst Best Picture of the past ten years

I always thought the concept of Crash was to show actions speak louder than words (you can dissect racism all you want, but if you're uneasy and still on edge, you're still buying into the stereotypes even if you say you aren't... most obvious with oh yeah, every character in the stupid ass movie. Let's have the hate spewing racist assholes save a woman of a different race while the preacher of tolerance kills a minority on instinct.)
Oh who am I kidding, I couldn't defend that piece of shit if I wanted to.

I went with Shakespeare In Love. Mostly because of the movies listed that was the worst movie. But I think Crash winning best picture was the dumbest move. All the other nominated movies that year were better. Everyone wants to jump on the Brokeback bandwagon but I thought the best picture that year was Capote.

I hated (and voted Crash) but I really wanted to vote for A Beautiful Mind. Connelly is the only good thing about that movie. I agree with Hiro's analysis of American Beauty but will say that I thought many of the performances in it were excellent. It was kind of like Crash, but with decent acting.

I wasn't a big fan of Chicago (Academy's "correction" for not awarding Moulin Rouge the previous year) or American Beauty, but the worst picture on this list is the over-rated Gladiator. That's a C+ movie, at best.

I myself was saddened by her extreme weight loss on Oscar night. My 14-year-old self was crushed. She was hot as hell in Little Children though.

Ugh, if Moulin Rouge had won, that would have been my pick in a heartbeat. That movie was absolutely unwatchable.

I haven't see Shakespeare In Love or Chicago (and I hate most musicals), but I still voted for Crash, especially considering Brokeback Mountain and Munich were so much better as films.

Actually not very much. I expected more from this director and thought this could have been a very good movie. As it was a C sounds about right and Gladiator was the one I voted for.

But worse than that, it was the first time I'd seen jigglevision camera work. Now it's everywhere. I hate that technique.

I've seen all but 3 from the list. The worst of what I've seen, is No Country For Old Men. Yeah, I know it's considered a masterpiece, but I didn't like it all that much. Overlooking the non-ending, the rest of the movie still feels undercooked and strangely awkward. I can watch it again though. There's so many movies I enjoy more on repeated movies. Maybe this movie could turn out that way.

Side note....."Shakespeare in Love" is not a bad film at all. In fact, it's quite good. People are just so pissed it lost to "SPR" that they automatically hate it. And I bet most haven't even seen it. Everyone is correct, it should not have won best picture. But it was one of the best films that year.
