I can't remember anymore. Is it General Shredder still? or do we not know wtf this film's plot is really like?

General Schraeder, yeah. I love Fichtner but I hate that they Americanized the Shredder. Let's see how it plays out.

Schraeder...right, right. I'm honestly wanting to see what kind of train wreck of an adaptation this will be. Granted...TMNT has been a property fucked wrongly for a while now.

have any of you guys watched the animated TMNT on Nick? My son got into it recently and it's actually a halfway decent show.

I hear it's alright. That's all I got. I got no wanting to see it though. Not a criticism of it's possible quality or whatever but...I just don't care for it's tone. Saying that I did think the 2D cartoon on Fox looked pretty damn cool though. Don't know if it was any good though.

I tried but I couldn't get into it. Has it gotten better?

I think it has. I wasn't big in to it after watching the pilot but after giving it another shot about halfway through the season I really started to dig it.

If you want "dark" TMNT then stick to the 2003 series but the Nick cartoon is solid.

I don't need it to be "dark" like the early comics, though I love them. The 1990 movie and the animated movie are perfect in my eyes.

I just had issues getting into the series. It was too spastic for me. Like Fairly Odd Parents but bad. However, if it's gotten better, I'll give it another shot.

Yeah, it's got some good action and comedy. I usually don't watch the episodes outright, as they are on for my son. But, I've started watching bits and pieces of them and it really is a decent show.

Re: New LIVE ACTION Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in the works...

I finally read "The Blue Door Draft" in its entirety. If it were a spec script, I'd say I didn't hate it but it's deeply flawed and in need of a massive rewrite. However, as a TMNT script, it needs a lot more work (in addition to the flaws that would remain as simply a spec script). Shcrader/Shredder is a total letdown. Particularly since he doesn't ever get a rematch against Raph and Leo. The turtles themselves are barely developed. April is far too passive. Casey isn't even Casey. And, as written, Casey's behavior is very contrived (particularly with his relationship with April) and doesn't feel genuine. The ending tries to tug at the heartstrings but it all feels so artificial (even when you take into account the ridiculousness of the premise).

But, again, I fear a lot of this may still be in the finished movie, even though they changed it so that April is the protagonist. I want the new movie to be good but I have my sincere doubts. And I'm pretty sure a lot of the problems will remain given the casting of Fichtner as Shredder, I'm sure the "twist" with his character will be the same in this draft.

Yeah, I bet dollars to donuts that General Schrader is still in the final movie. Fichtner fits the role of an army general much better than he does a ninja.

Finishing off the draft I saw that it's actually Colonel Schrader and General Davies was his superior (though Davies was in the dark regarding Schrader's true motives) but, yeah (same shit, different smell). Fichtner screams "soldier" rather than "ninja". But the biggest insult to Shredder is the twist that
Spoiler:
he's a Baraka-like mutant, complete with retractable claws. Although it makes it questionable that he also wears dual claws to fight. Might as well go for broke and give him retractable claws on his hands as well.

New pics. Yeah, that's Raph in disguise. I miss the old trench coat already.

Maybe I didn't notice before but he's massive. Really liked the size of Ralph in his coat in the first film. Kind of big but not big enough to stand out excessively.

this is going to be PG13, right? i sort of hope not, since my almost 4 year old son is heavily into the animated show now and he won't be old enough to watch this.

Part of it is that Alan Ritchson (2014 Raphael) is 6' 2" whereas Josh Pais (1990 Raphael) is 5' 7". Funny enough, Peter Laird actually bemoaned that the turtles in the first movie were too tall (they're supposed to be around 5'1") so they were made shorter in the animated movie.

It's a Nickelodeon production so I'm betting it'll be PG (although I think their latest movie, Fun Size, was PG-13). But I doubt it'll be anywhere near as dark as the PG-rated 1990 movie.

Although Nickelodeon has dipped in to airing more risque adult-oriented shows in the evening (i.e. Wendell & Vinnie), I couldn't possibly imagine this being PG-13. Nickelodeon wouldn't do that since kids are still their core demographic.

I dunno. iCarly and Victorious every so often had drug and sexual innuendo (and those were their most popular shows). And that Fun Size movie had a giant chicken butt humping a car (among other things).

Nickelodeon might go risqué again with Michael Bay as executive producer on this.

I watched all of iCarly because it was clearly written with adult viewers in mind, but if you put those shows in the context of the MPAA PG rating they'd fit right in.

I never saw Fun Size, but it does seem Nick movies have come a long way since Good Burger.

FWIW, Nick's shows of the 80s such as "You Can't Do That on Television" pushed the envelope pretty hard.
