Re: New LIVE ACTION Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in the works...
The new CGI cartoon doesn't look like anything like the 1987 animated series. It's in the vein of what the cartoon did to the property, but there isn't one thing that reminds me of the old show. It's just another notch in the TMNT universe that nearly everyone who grew up in the 80s/90s recognizes, not the hardcore fans who also are familiar with the source material.

It blows my mind to find out that the TMNT have only been around since 1984

Another fun fact: TMNT was originally a parody of X-Men and Daredevil. The whole teenage mutant aspect of being feared by the public so they live in isolation is a parody of X-Men. It also parodied what Frank Miller was doing with Daredevil at the time. Frank Miller introduced ninjas into the Daredevil comics with the Hand ninja clan and Stick as Daredevil's sensei. The TMNT had the Foot ninja clan and Splinter as the turtles' sensei. |

I remember flipping the pages on that and it was great wtf moment from myself cuz it's awesome and unexpected that one incident could coincidentally (different publishers aside) create another..and it's never known till now.

Exactly, that's supposed to be Matt Murdock getting blinded by the same accident with the ooze that mutates the animals.

So not exactly new movie related but I saw these (http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant.../dp/B0081MR4SK) and had to share. They're pretty badass and remind me of what I grew up with (down to the packaging). I may have to get the four turtles eventually.

Re: New LIVE ACTION Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in the works...
If my lazy ass ever gets going, I've got a couple plastic bins at my mom's place filled top to bottom with my old TMNT toys. I had nearly every figure, still have all the accessories, the van, helicopter, and a ton of shit I can't even remember. I should get on that.

Re: New LIVE ACTION Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in the works...
These are the best TMNT action figures. They are based on the original Eastman and Laird comic book.
http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/6...atmntcolor.jpg And the black and white version. (The comics themselves had black and white interior art.) http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/9...ckandwhite.jpg |
Re: New LIVE ACTION Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in the works...
The original comics are awesome and those figures are pretty cool too. I guess I'll always be partial to the 80s cartoon style just because I grew up with it though.

I only bothered to read the first couple pages. So the Foot are no longer ninjas, but rather a branch of the military and Shredder is now General Schrader? I don't even need to read any more to know how this is going to play out. There is an alien invasion and the army comes in to stop the dirty rotten alien turtles. [/typical Hollywood cliche]

The script was removed. Was anyone able to save it? I want to finish reading it (out of morbid curiosity).
