looks like there will be additional batman movies (duh) and Nolan will still have some involvement as a producer: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/200...gue-on-the-way

Back in 2007, Warner Bros. was moving full-steam ahead on a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie with hopes of getting into production before the looming writers' strike. Actors like Jay Baruchel, Armie Hammer, Teresa Palmer, Adam Brody and Common had signed on to star in the film that would follow a younger crop of superheroes (so as to not conflict with the more adult universes that Batman and Superman were filming in).

But while rehearsals were well underway, the script never got up to par and Warner Bros. shut the whole thing down in January of 2008. Now, three years later, it looks like WB is finally ready to return to the JLA.

Buried in an article about Jeff Robinov taking over as president of Warner Bros. is some word on what high-profile projects Robinov is planning for the future of WB. It mentions new BATMAN and SUPERMAN films in 2012 before a cryptic mention of "JUSTICE LEAGUE, a teaming of DC's top heroes, in 2013."

UPDATE - The LA Times was able to get Robinov to clarify and he said that after THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, they'll be rebooting Batman for JUSTICE LEAGUE. Asked what exactly that means, he said, "Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is." So perhaps the bigger news is that Chris Nolan will be producing JUSTICE LEAGUE, as they are producing SUPERMAN?

Were this from a producer or a star or a writer, I'd still be very skeptical because sometimes those people don't even know what's going on. But this is Jeff Robinov who has sole green light power at Warner Bros. and if he wants a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie, then so be it, he'll have his JUSTICE LEAGUE movie.

Of course it's not as easy as what Marvel is doing with THE AVENGERS. While that film will keep many of the same cast members from Marvel films over the past few years, JUSTICE LEAGUE won't get Christian Bale as Batman. And if they don't get Bale, do they keep Henry Cavill or return to a much younger cast?

Robinov knows that the most bankable part of his superhero empire has been Nolan and his Gotham City films – the studio has yet to deliver a 21st century superhero blockbuster hit without Nolan in the director’s seat. Batman will continue to be a centerpiece property beyond next year’s “The Dark Knight Rises” and Nolan’s departure from the franchise. “We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman…Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.
I'm down with that. Take the trilogy as a Year One story, and beyond that keep the story going forward, without rebooting.

I've always viewed Nolan's movies as an interpretation of the early years of Batman. What would be cool is if we get a new set of films by another director, followed by a break from the franchise (which I hope won't be, but I fear most likely will be, due to it all falling down the crapper at the hands of a hack). Then, after a hiatus, Nolan returns to make Dark Knight Returns with an age appropriate cast.

Adam West plays an old Bruce teaching a Batman replacement, in a modernized version of the 60's-TV-style Batman!

cool...They do have some very nice architecture business buildings. So...will this replace Chicago or is this just to show off more of Gotham?

I was working in Pittsburgh for a few months in 1998, just when Tim Burton was scouting locations for his aborted Superman project and Kevin Smith was shooting "Dogma". I think this is a pretty great choice.

Ugh, Pittsburgh? They may as well have filmed in Detroit.

Just heard on the news here in Chicago that they won't be filming here at all :(

The city was just as much a character as any of the actors... this is really bad news.

I haven't followed the thread so forgive me for asking, was the stuff about them filming in New Orleans all bullshit then?

As near as we can tell...yes...

ALso...I'm kinda sad they're not filming in Chicago anymore...hope the transition of the city's appearance fits well w/ Pittsburgh.

They probably have more than enough unused footage of Chicago for establishing shots to pull off the idea that it's the same city. Maybe they are trying to make it that this film covers a different part of the city.

If we only discussed CONFIRMED FACTS about this film, the thread would still be on page 1.

That photo of the city is indeed gorgeous.

I do wonder what prompted the change after establishing Chicago as the core identity of the city for two films, though.

It is a nice photo but any city can have a photo like that.

Didn't know that Pittsburgh had the whole bridge connecting thing going on there too. Non photoshopped Image...I assume.

I believe they considered Detroit but obviously chose Pittsburgh. Not sure what the big deal about this is... They've kind of lost cohesion between BB and TDK anyway so as long as it's close to TDK, I don't really care.

True, it seems they went more out of their way to create a Gotham in BB, and even though it uses the same locations TDK is more obviously Chicago.
