I CAN see him utilizing a group of individuals to work for him as intel and other minor miscellanous stuff but I can't see how it'd work coming from where we are now. You'd have Gotham for sure criticizing Batman for getting a kid into danger, etc etc. I'm sure Gordon would have issues, Batman would be in more heat on the legal side, WTF would Fox and Alfred say?
And that's why I suggested he not actually see fighting time with real criminals. Batman wouldn't be putting Robin into danger at all, because he would just be living at Wayne Manor and training daily with Batman for the day when he is old enough to join Batman or replace Batman should something happen. Taking on a protegee and training them in the confines of your house until the day you think they're ready doesn't sound irresponsible or dangerous at all, especially if this kid was on the street committing crimes or getting into trouble without a family. So Robin wouldn't really be working with Batman at all and in that way I think it would work out. Then, of course, in the second movie we see Robin a few years older, go out on his own despite Batman telling him he wasn't ready.

The same goes for a Batman Beyond movie. That's the same as having a spiderman 2099 or scarlet spiderman movie. Just silly.

I'd love to see a Batman Beyond movie, but I doubt that it's commercial enough to be successful.

They weren't all great, but Doom 2099 and Spider-Man 2099 were both pretty good, IIRC.

I think it works. Batman is now middle-aged and he isn't getting any younger. He realizes he won't live forever and his nightly endeavors are taking a toll on him, mentally and physically. One night he happens upon Jason Todd, an orphan that's vandalizing a building or breaking into a store, and stops him. He sees something in the boy and decides to take him in.

It would be a great way for the Batman in Nolan's universe to come full circle. I don't think it's the same as Spider-Man 2099 though because Bruce Wayne plays a major role in Batman Beyond and Terry McGinnis assuming the role of Batman. Look...I like Robin the comics (depending on who wrote him for Grayson, HATED Todd..shitty character, I really like Drake though) but in live-action you're asking for the audience to suspend their belief that this Batman would do that.

Christopher Nolan Confirms He Will Direct a Third and Final Batman Movie
It's not news that Christopher Nolan -- the director behind such mind-bending films as "Memento," "The Prestige," and this summer's massive hit "Inception" -- does not offer up information freely. Playing it close to the vest is how he operates. So it is big news that he has finally gone on record to confirm that he will be directing a third Batman movie. After months of not saying one way or the other if he would take the job, the man behind "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" told Empire Magazine on Thursday that he will be back in the director's chair once again. Nolan told Empire, "It's becoming inevitable, I'll put it that way... I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I'm pretty excited about what we're doing." Nolan went on to indicate that he is working with his brother Jonathan, who also scripted "The Dark Knight," on getting the script in shape. Just the day before, Michael Caine revealed in an interview with BBC Radio 1 that the next Bat-film will most likely begin filming in May. When asked he he will be returning to the role of Alfred the butler, Caine answered, "I assume I'm there. In the movie business, you never believe anything, you assume." Since Caine has appeared in Nolan's last four films, it's probably a safe assumption. Though he did say that Nolan still hasn't told him who the villain in the third installment will be. Nolan had already announced that the next Batman film will be his last, concluding a planned trilogy. But he won't be saying goodbye to superheroes. He's also at work on a new film version of Superman, though as a producer, not a director. He is developing a story he wrote with his "Batman Begins" co-writer, David S. Goyer. Nolan is reportedly meeting with potential directors for the project that would re-invent the Man of Steel in much the same way as he did for the Caped Crusader. Darren Aronofsky ("Black Swan"), Matt Reeves ("Let Me In"), Tony Scott ("Unstoppable"), and Zack Snyder ("Watchmen") are all rumored to be considered for the job. Expect to hear more news about Nolan's third and final Batman film in the next few months. Currently, the untitled film is scheduled for release in the summer of 2012. |

Hmm. That reads like like he's lost interest, but feels "contractually obligated" to get this to the finish line. |
re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I don't know I always sort of figured he would wind up doing it. It really does feel like his series at this point and to not have finished it would have felt wrong to me. I wonder if there's any chance of the main cast returning beyond a third film or if after Nolan is gone they are too.

We all knew he was working on the script...

In my opinion this cast is going to be really tough to top. Gary Oldman is fantastic as Gordon and I really like Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman in these too. |
re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
If Nolan wants to end it after this one, so be it. But do us a favor, don't make anymore in this universe and try to ape Nolan's style. IMO, his series has always been about setting up the early years of Batman, kind of one big origins story. Once his arc is over, then people can look to the comics archives to see the further adventures of the Dark Knight.

I'm just glad that WB got over their cold feet on another Batman movie.
I'd like to see a Batman that can mix in with the more fanciful characters. Realistic Batman is nice, but I think it ends up being pretty limited compared to everything else from the comics. The "______ won't work in Nolan's universe" kind of sucks sometimes, especially since it results in "Two-Face would have died of infection!" complaints. |

I would love to see Hunter Rose used as a Nolanverse Batman villain, though might be problematic since he's owned by Matt Wagner and not DC Comics.
