BOM has estimated theater counts at 4,375+.

That puts it currently on par with Warner's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (4,375), but below Iron Man 2 (4,380) and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (4,468).

I'm already in line. :)

Seriously though, I actually will probably wait until Sunday (or maybe even Monday or Tuesday) to see it because of the crowds. I have no desire to have the experience ruined by a bunch of chatty teenagers.

To be honest, I didn't have an issue with the crowds of opening weekend on The Dark Knight. I saw it three times over that weekend (IMAX, DLP and private 35mm screening) and everyone was well behaved.

I'm going to the midnight IMAX screening as:
  1. Tickets were $17, nearly double of a regular ticket.
  2. Tickets sold out within 24 hours meaning only hardcore fans will be there and they're well behaved.

I'll probably skip seeing it at midnight too. I find that first viewing is usually tough because people are cheering or whatever and I inevitably miss dialogue. I know I'll see it more than once but hate missing stuff the first time because of the crowd.

The only times the crowds went wild during the last film:

1. The Joker's "How about a magic trick?"
2. The semi flipping.

Just in case people aren't able to see that (I wasn't):

I actually think you'll have more of an issue with chatty teenagers over the weekend and less so at midnight. I too went at midnight for TDK and the crowd was quiet except for a few parts where they cheered (i.e. pencil trick), which I was fine with.

On a side note, these are the types of events where I really wish I could reserve seats. Heck, I'd even pay more for each ticket if I knew the seats I was getting and could arrive 5-10 minutes before it started.

At this point Nolan keeps it because it pisses people off. Yeah, it's fucking stupid. The name. The design. Everything. Wait, you'll get the same old comic picture posted.

It still works. You just have to accept it at this point. Yeah it sucks and it's ugly. Nothing you can do about it. This is commerce and it's already proven to be okay.

The Tumbler is awesome and one of the best parts of the franchise. I guess you guys aren't fans of The Dark Knight Returns? The sporty Batmobile doesn't make much sense. And hey, Nolan still gave us some awesome IMAX shots of the Lamborghini.

I'm going to the 3:30 show on opening day at an IMAX myself. Midnight sold out and it's a good thing I didn't get the tickets as I had planned on taking that day off work, but the person who would cover for me can't make it. Luckily I get off at about 1:00 and can still make the showing.

I predict this will be on so many screens that if I want to catch it again that weekend at a regular theater, I won't have problems.

I've never been a fan of Bale's Batman. I just hope he doesn't snarl as much as he did in TDK, which got really fucking irritating.

Actually it's not, hence the people complaining about it.

This was my experience, too.

Theater was packed full of both younger and older audience members, and plenty were chatterbox teens and tweens before the show. Outside of a howl here and there for the entrance of Joker and Batman, and a few other expected cheers, they apparently took Batman seriously and shut up once the room went dark. I'm sure it had something to do with Ledger, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the same next weekend.

(Next weekend!)

^ Exactly. For something like this, opening weekend is sure to be full of the fans, and they are always respectful and only pop out when needed.

FWIW, I just watched Bronson and have come to two conclusions:

1) Nicholas Refn likes the sound of 80s New Wave music.

2) Tom Hardy isn't a decent actor, he's brilliant.

I'm waiting until after TDKR to check out Bronson, but I was pleasantly surprised with how good he was in This Means War (underrated in my opinion).

Early reviews seem to be positive, always good, but their authenticity is questionable.

Lines like "Nolan turns these 165 minutes into his best work" seem to oversell it a bit.

David Letterman just ruined the ending in his interview with Hathaway tonight. Fucking asshole.

This is news to me. I always thought the majority of people thought that The Tumbler is a pretty cool vehicle. I really like it personally, it's not designed to be flashy like the other Batmobiles have been but it serves the purpose of being a believable vehicle for someone doing what Batman does.

Also, I've been staying away from interviews and stuff but I really doubt Warner would let Letterman give away the ending without some serious repercussions. I'm sure it was a joke.

Who gives a fuck, it's going to be a great movie. At worst, this movie is going to be above average with just a few flaws.
