Zombie Questions, Zombie Answers.

Here is what I'd like to know about our beloved undead friends in cinema.

They are hungry for brains and flesh.
They eat the brains and flesh.

THEN WHAT?

Where does it go?
Down their throats and into their stomachs?
Do they digest it somehow?
Does it come out the other end at some point, theoretically?
Or does it get absorbed directly into - somewhere--- and then the moisture sort of evaporates off of them, like aged beef?

This has been puzzling me lately.

They don't digest it. It just gets packed into their bodies.

You should read "The Zombie Survival Guide" and "World War Z," both by Max Brooks.

They answer those very questions and are fantastic, "must-reads" for any zombie enthusiast.

I'm not entirely convinced the OP isn't Otter's own The Edit King posting under a different moniker.

I think it's more likely that eventually their belly would burst and any new meat eaten would end up falling out.

I don't know where it goes. All I know is that "brains make the pain go away".

Right, and that is according to that particular film's "universal rules". So in that film clearly some type of absorptions or digestion occurs. Otherwise how would they gain the benefit of eating the brains?

I keep forgetting to ask Zack Snyder why his zombies in Dawn of the Dead will run and stop and run again.

OK Tallguy, I'm intrigued ... what is it and where is it from?

"Well, there's no problem. If you have a gun, shoot 'em in the head. That's a sure way to kill 'em. If you don't, get yourself a club or a torch. Beat 'em or burn 'em. They go up pretty easy."

Haven't you seen Day of the Dead? Logan's experiments prove they don't eat for hunger or nourishment, it's pure motor instinct. They bite even if their stomachs are removed (ahh, the glorious SPLAT as the organs hit the ground).

Maybe they chew on flesh like beef jerky.

Well, if you want to go by Peter Jackson's Dead-Alive, reanimated colons have the ability to pass wind.

Yeah, I was intrigued, and with some searching this is the website of the artist. Apparently the above picture was an entry into a Last Man Standing contest on conceptart.org.

If their stomachs leak, they can eat the flesh over and over, like in Marvel Zombies.

This could become the next cure for obesity.
