Best of these Sci-fi Horrors

which one of these Sc-Fi Horror films do you think is the best?

NoirFan 08-14-08 05:43 PM

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). Probably my favorite sci-fi film of all time, and I'm not a huge fan of the genre.
EDIT: Just noticed this. Why is the crappy remake of The Blob included, and the not the kitsch classic original?

The Thing.

It's the answer to all of life's questions.

JumpCutz 08-14-08 06:41 PM

Alien

TomOpus 08-14-08 06:52 PM

As much as I love some of the other movies, Alien truly mesmerized me when I saw it in the theater.

according to this... http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=462731

it is debatable whether "Aliens" is horror or not.

Those are all great movies, but I think I like Jeff Goldblum in The Fly best.

Geofferson 08-15-08 08:47 AM

Prematurely chose Aliens -- after second thought, other: The Thing From Another World

The Blob remake is listed as a choice? Wow. I think I'd include Event Horizon before that.

Tough choice, but I'll go with Alien.

Matthew Ackerly 08-15-08 08:54 AM

I like the "Blob" remake... But it shouldn't be included.

I went with "Alien"

hitman tommy 08-15-08 09:56 AM

"Alien" for me as well.

Hokeyboy 08-15-08 10:06 AM

Aliens is NOT horror. Alien is. Got my vote.

Wolf359 08-15-08 10:07 AM

I chose Aliens, but if it wasn't on the list, the '82 Thing would get my vote.

notkevinbacon 08-15-08 10:47 AM

As said, there are a lot of good films here... but my choice is The Fly. I'm actually surprised to see so little love for it... I think that Cronenberg's film is the most complex and haunting film on the list. Disgusting, terrifying, heartbreaking and just twisted.

I love Alien, The Thing and the '78 Body Snatchers is really frightening.

Kinda interesting that all the films listed deal with threats on a really visceral level. With some or all of the horror coming from within ones flesh, deception/mutations of the flesh and viral/parasitic like dangers.

starseed1981 08-15-08 12:11 PM

Alien.

clckworang 08-15-08 01:38 PM

I sent some love over to The Fly. But this was a really tough choice because the movie experiences are so varied. The Fly is more psychological terror. Alien is more suspense. Aliens, as someone else said, I consider more action than horror. The Thing is brilliant, too. Very tough call for me, but when it came down to it, some of those scenes with Jeff Goldblum in The Fly are just so horrific that they have always stuck with me. But a lot of great movies on the list!

TimeandTide 08-15-08 02:10 PM

Aliens.

Why isn't Event Horizon on the list? That movie is rated W. Caution: May cause the willies.
