I voted for Village just because it was downright horrible. I did think Christine was a good film but after reading the book the movie seems like its the shorter visual version of cliff notes of Christine. Which i know a lot of movies adapted from books are like that but Christine just seems like it suffers more from it.

In fact, to show you how much people are catching on to it, when the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica recently held a screening of The Thing the audience laughed after that line.

Wow, Ghosts of Mars, Vampires & Prince of Darkness have to be the absolute worst of the bunch. How did Christine & The Thing make the list? They're both classics and not at all in the league of these stinkers.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks that In The Mouth of Madness is Carpenter's biggest piece of crap.
I was thinking about Carpenter the other day, and how we don't have any real signature filmmakers like him anymore.

May I ask why you feel this way? I personally find it to be an inventive meditation on the subjective nature of reality, as well as a darkly humorous satire held together by a superb central performance by Sam Neill, who more than makes up for the admittedly wooden Julie Carmen.

Also to be fair, I never saw Ghosts of Mars.

Prince of Darkness and the Thing are my favorites of his. POD is creepy and has the most killer ending of any horror movie and the score is second to only halloween. i wish carpenter would do a sequel with the same cast except pleasance of course. the worst of his is easily village of the damned. at least escape from LA had a few decent scenes.
