Wow, way too young. I just watched Transformers yesterday too, (which is odd, as I don't really care for it).

This is terrible. What a sad way to start my morning. Bad Santa, The Original Kings of Comedy, The Oceans Trilogy, he was one of the highlights of each film and other films I have not mentioned. The Bernie Mac Season One DVD i bought and enjoyed the hell out of it. That was a very well done show with a great performance by Mr. Mac. I know there is supposedly a Dark Knight Curse but now it looks like there could be a Transformers curse as well.

RIP

Bobby Bolivia: Son, I'm a lot of things. A liar's not one of them. Especially not in front of my mammy. Hey, Mammy!
[Mammy gives him the middle finger]
Bobby Bolivia: Oh don't be like that! If I had a rock I'd bust your head bitch. I tell you man, she deaf. You know.
[laughs hysterically]

this is indeed shocking and sad and my heart goes out to his friends and family.

but, earlier this week Access Hollywood was doing one of their "Fact or Fiction" segments and they said "Bernie Mac maybe on deaths' door" or something like that and they said it was fiction, that his "reps" said he was merely being treated for pneumonia.

obviously he was close so why can't these reps be straight up about it and not this Hollywood secretiveness so that those that care can say a prayer and hope for a recovery. i don't get it.

.

Rest In Peace, Bernie. Very sad day for comedy.

Hopefully we can finally get the whole series of The Bernie Mac Show released on DVD.

I thought it was odd that he was going into the hospital for pneumonia. They don't usually hospitalize you for pneumonia unless it's a very bad case. They'll give you antibiotics and give you some prescription decongestants and send you home in most cases.

If they admit you then you're in pretty bad shape.

Of course, it's very possible that it wasn't the pneumonia that got him hospitalized.

Now, I wasn't a fan of Bernie's, but 50 is WAAAAY to young to die. It's a real bummer for his fans, and it's devastating for his family.

Man this sucks. I fucking loved him in Ocean's Eleven and his too-brief role in Transformers. His best was Bad Santa, specifically the scene where he accuses that 12-year-old of shoplifting from the video game store. "Happy Kwanzaa!" Weirdly he shares a lot of scenes with John Ritter.

RIP

EDIT: How could I mention Bad Santa and forget to reference the money negotiations scene?

"45%."
"Half."
"48%?"
"Hahff."
"49%?"
"Half."

So tragic. I remember when news broke that he was in Transformers and all the fanboys immediately railed against it, but when the movie came out everyone seemed to change their minds. He was always a great standout in his films and his sit-com seemed funny whenever I caught it.

This really sucks.

Been a fan of Bernie since I was introduced to him on Def Jam. Always looked forward to every movie he would show up in. And though I rarely watch sitcoms, I loved his show.

R.I.P.
