Clemens in Alien3. They set him up to be Ripley's male partner like Hicks in Aliens, but died early.

I still shake my head at this. Why kill off one of the few interesting characters early in the movie?

I walked out during The Dark Knight after:
Spoiler:
They killed Gordon. Total disrespect to the comic book, and the character.

No offense, but you probably shouldn't be tossing around the I-word.

Has there ever been a movie where the protagonist of the film is talked up as the "savior" to stop evil, and then he gets killed right away at the end of the first act, and then the rest of the movie (the second and third acts) is the antagonist killing everyone and evil wins?

This is why I really liked FUNNY GAMES:
Spoiler:
all the protagonists die, and the bad guys get away and live
