What Movie was the best of 1994?

Pulp Fiction.

I picked Leon... I don't know if I picked right or not though. Pulp Fiction, Shawshank, and Leon are 3 of my all time favorites that I can't put in front of each other.

Chungking Express.

Shawshank by a nose over Pulp Fiction.

Ed Wood

This was a great year for film IMHO, and I have a hard time deciding between Pulp Fiction and The Shawshank Redemption. PF probably gets the nod though.

BTW, Red (of the Three Colors trilogy) should have been on there instead of The Lion King.

Pulp Fiction. But Shawshank and Ed Wood are right up there. 1994 was one of the last great years for movies.

But I gotta go with Leon. It may not be the best, but its my favorite.

Pulp Fiction. One of the most influential movies ever made.

Shawshank. Although, I'm one of the last people on earth who has not seen Pulp Fiction.

I'm sure the number of people who vote for Forrest Gump will depress me to no end.

Only if by "influential" you mean "wholly derivative of movies that were actually influential".

That was a great movie year. I'd go with Shawshank.

I was one of the few people who saw Shawshank in the theater and loved every minute of it. Although in 1994 I would have gone with Forest Gump & Lion King, 14 years and many repeat viewings later, I'd give the nod to Shawshank. All the others are also great, but nothing from that year compares to the slow build and character moments between Red & Andy.

Well, personally I feel that many great films tend to borrow from other great films (and other works) and put a fresh spin on them. Derivative doesn't neccessarily need to mean a bad thing.

But what I really meant was that it is a film has spawned a great number of imitators. Plus it tends to be the standard by which other films of that genre tend to be judged.

Even Tarantino would pick Chungking Express.

It hurts, really physically hurts, to see the turd that is Natural Born Killers on a list with those great movies.

Anyway, Pulp Fiction followed closely by Leon.
