Favorite Science Fiction Movie's Version of the Future?
I just watched children of men recently and was really impressed how the future was depicted. Not flying cars, but advanced in a lot of other ways, and still very original.
So whats your favorite future version of earth?
And of couse fifth element is right up there to.

Minority Report.
His house is a mess.
Advertising is more annoying and intrusive than ever.
Privacy rights are still an issue.
Poverty still exists.
Not everyone in the future lives in absolute splendor.

Another vote for Gattica. Not my favorite as in that's what I want, but more like that's what we'll get, in maybe less extreme ways.

Logan's Run. ... you can all eat my toast at 30 years old. Oh wait, that was a few years ago. OK, never-mind.
Most contemporary realistic view of the future: Children of Men, They Live (less the aliens), Robo-cop (less the robots), Brazil, 1984 - fairly pessimistic I am.
Scariest view of the future - anything post-apocalyptic: Road Warrior, 12 Monkeys, The Day After, I am Legend, etc.
Most interesting view of the future: Oshii's Avalon (hyper-realistic alternate reality modeled upon gaming environments. However the applications are endless).
If Neuromancer is ever made ..and made correctly, it will probably be a blend of Avalon and Blade Runner. This already has the possibility of being my favorite futuristic setting, period. But given the current state of Hollywood it will probably end up being the fucking sequel to Johnny Mnemonic. I wont be holding my breath.
Except for I am Legend, all of these are favorites for one reason or another.

Blade Runner.
Flying cars, it rains all the time and the sun never comes out, and you can get disposable sex-bots.
