It also doesn't help that I find many critics are constantly comparing it to Rocky Horror.

As a couple of my friends had mentioned to me, (obviously) if you aren't fan of the genres of music in the film, it'll be dull to you right away.

I actually like that this film knows it's campy and is self aware that it isn't necessarily taking itself seriously all the time. (Ex. "Mark It Up" song/scene)

Sarah Brightman was one character (Blind Mag) I wanted to learn more about but her song with Alexa Vega "Chase the Morning" rocks hard.

Actually, that was possibly my favorite song in the entire film.

I would LOVE to see this, but I doubt it will come close enough to me to see without making a couple hour trip. I do have the soundtrack and it is excellent IMO. Apparently "zydrate comes in a little glass vial."

After having listened to the soundtrack I'm definitely heading into NYC within the next week or so to see it.

It's Monday, December 8th @10:00pm at the Alamo Draft House in Houston, Texas. The director, Darren Lynn Bousman, along with co-star/co-creator Terrence Zudinich will be there, and all the Road Tour screenings have sold out so far, so buying tickets in advance is probably a good idea.

I caught a screening last night (before it leaves Vegas on Tuesday).

There were only 20 people in the theater and everyone seemed to enjoy it, except the one walk out.

It's too bad Lionsgate didn't start off with a limited release and start building it to other cities over the matter of a few weeks. I think the right advertising to the right market could've garnered the flick a few million dollars rather than a few hundred thousand.

Any advertising would have helped. Other than the trailer you can find online, Darren Lynn Bousman said that LionsGate did nothing to promote the movie at all. Everything found online is stuff that was put out by him and others involved in the film, but not LionsGate.

Got to see the movie for the second time with one of my friends tonight

A theater in San Francisco that holds maybe 20 people per room was showing it. Definitely better than when I saw it in Berkeley and I had people constantly making jokes/chattering during the film.

Still rules. Can't wait for the DVD/Blu-Ray release

Rumor is that the DVD will come out January 20th, i.e. same day as Saw V.

I saw this last night in Philly as part of the road tour. It was my first time seeing the movie and I really enjoyed it. Darren and Terrance did a Q&A after the movie and hung around after that to sign things. During the Q&A, Darren confirmed that the DVD and Blu-ray will be out on 1/20/09. I pre-ordered the Blu-ray as soon as I got home and also picked up the soundtrack.

Yeah, the timing sucked, but I figured I might not get a chance to see it on the big screen again anytime soon.

Screener is out. Great film, just not the same on the small screen. Still great though.

Re: Repo! The Genetic Opera -- Rock opera from LionsGate

terrible terrible terrible movie. i normally get some enjoyment out of even the worst genre flicks but this was just pure garbage. it's like a fucking 90 minute mtv music video. HOT TOPIC: THE MUSICAL. this sure as hell is not the second coming of ROCKY HORROR or even PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE.
