Not while they are under the Disney umbrella. Don't hold your breath.

If any studio would go dark and depressing for an ending, I'd have to put my money on Japanese studios. I shudder to think what Disney/Pixar would have done if they made Grave of the Firefiles.

Spoiler:
Auto-Nav had the little robot remove it so that the ship wouldn't go back to earth, following the last orders given from earth. That's why EVA and Wall-E found the plant in the pod that was set to self-destruct.

I don't know if this has come up in the previous umpteen pages or not, but you do realize it's EVE, and not EVA?

I think EVA is the Japanese pronunciation.

I don't quite understand all the political sniping. To me it was just a really entertaining SF story. Hell I was just happy to have a CG film about something besides talking squirrels and kitchen appliances.

And its about time Pixar started sneaking some Myazaki elements into the their films (environmental message, story epiloque running over the closing credits), considering Lasseter is such a fanboy of his work.

Well, it is how Wall-e pronounces it. Both my daughters picked up on it and say it the same way. Of course they are two and four though.

And Eve pronounces his name "WALL-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE."

And Wall-E is an idiot.

I just assumed it was the best his vocoder (or whatever) could do. Since he's obviously not designed for speech.

ditto....

Also to the comment of Wall-E being an idiot. Yeah, maybe. That's a bit harsh but...he's a low level grunt bot. So how much intelligence would be needed and given for his task of doing what he was made to do?

Just saw this movie and LOVED LOVED LOVED IT. I laughed out loud so many times.

Favorite moments:

- When Wall-E is standing still outside and then starts moving and you realize he just recharged himself with solar power.

- When he brings Eve outside to see if the solar power will make her move again.

- When he's dragging her along with Christmas lights.

- When he recharged himself in space with the sun and the contented sigh.

- When Wall-E's getting cleaned and he dirties up the floor and the robot on purpose.

- The holographic date was a "virtual disaster"

Awesome movie.

Re: "Wall-E" ...(An Adventure Beyond the Ordinar-E) reviews thread.

I watched this last night, but the DVD I was watching skipped through much of the second half due to scratches. Including skipping the last fifteen minutes.

Here is what I caught: Wall-E headed out to the mother ship where the humans were located. He and EVE find a boot with a plant in it. They ended up back on Earth somehow and Wall-E's memory was erased.

How did they end up back on Earth, and what happened? Don't worry about spoilers, just lay it out.

As much as this movie displeased me (despite the intruiging first 15 minutes), such an ending would have made the film a tad more satisfying for me. However, I get why they didn't go there and teased with it instead.

Thanks!

I really like their "Cut to the Chase" feature, which boils the movie down to a few paragraphs.

For this movie:

*CUT TO THE CHASE*

Brought to you by MoviePooper

MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW

Wall-E is a lonely robot left on Earth to clean up man's trash. He loves Hello Dolly.

Eve is a vegetation probe sent to earth to find signs of life. Wall-E falls in love with Eve and gives her a plant that shuts her down and activates her signal. She is collected and taken to the humans, and Wall-E tags along as a stowaway.

Humans have become slovenly and dependent on robots. Secret programming is supposed to keep them from returning to Earth even though it is safe. Wall-E, Eve, some broken Robots, and the Captain of the ship have to overcome that programming, defeat the evil robot, and take the ship back to Earth. Wall-E is very damaged in the process.

They arrive back on Earth and Wall-E is repaired, but he doesn't seem to be the same robot until Eve holds his hand. He then becomes Wall-E again. Mankind and the robots fix the Earth.

I'm watching it again now.

Man what a fantastic film.

If any of you haven't seen the incredible computer case meticulously machined to be Wall-E by that Russian guy, you will love this:

It's actually when she "kisses" him, not the hand holding, that brings him back.

I didnt enjoy this movie; the animation was wonderful, but the story was meh, with the two robots.
