He was a fairly big star like ten years ago but I think he kind of stepped back a bit. I like him as an actor though.

Ehhh I thought the scene was fine. Was funny to see a situation where Axel was told to shut up and listened for at least a couple seconds and the visual of the helicopter at the end made me laugh.

Or I could just enamored with hearing the BHC score on something new for the first time in 30 years. I’m telling you, he does the laugh and this thing is starting off at 4 stars for me.

On one hand, the scene wasn’t too promising. On the other hand, the tone of the scene was on par with most of the first and second movies. I rewatched all three last week and while I think 2 is the one I like the most, 1 is still excellent, and 3 has brief moments of entertainment. My wife liked 3 the most, and 1 the worst. She basically didn’t like 1 at all, which was surprising to me.

Murphy is doing press for Axel F. He says here that 5 is in development with Jerry Bruckheimer. The writer of Axel F is working on the script. But he hasn’t seen it yet.

I heard one reviewer I "trust" on Twitter/X say that he'd rank this new one right behind the first one in terms of quality - which surprised me and also made me wonder if the movie is actually good, why release THAT clip?

I honestly think it could have been good... but it looks low budget and has absolutely no edge to it. Feels like it's one of those sequels in an R-rated franchise where they were aiming for a PG or PG-13 rating and watered it down for kids. (See Robocop 3).

I didn't watch the preview scene, but when Netflix emailed me about this last week, I was in a weird mood and would've watched it right away had it been available. Now I guess I'll still watch it, but with low expectations.

I watched the first two yesterday.

Not sure what will satisfy you guys. The first is a light and breezy escapism cop film. The only looser cop-plot I can think of is Bad Boys. Still a thrill and tons of fun to watch.

The second one was more of the same with Tony Scott's touches, which was a good fit after Top Gun.

What will satisfy me is Eddie acting like Axel, a fast talking con man who pulls one over on everyone, a few scenes capturing the chemistry between Axel, Billy, and Taggert, and Axel doing the laugh. Axel has to do the laugh.

I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

Why? It's on Netflix. Unless you're only subscribing for this movie, it's nothing more than a two hour commitment of time at your convenience.
