Already being discussed in a few different areas, it really isn't news at all and has been rumored since Shia joined Indy 4.

I believe this is the first time that Lucas, who has some control over the franchise, has said it is a distinct possibilty.Originally Posted by RichC2

I like Shia. If executed correctly, I wouldn't mind something like this. So long as Ford is still Indy, I'd be there.

I've heard pretty much everything available about GR's "hands-on, micromanagement" style of production and the issues it caused, but the trouble with that was when Roddenberry was "promoted" to executive producer (effectively removing him from control of Trek) for the third season of the original series, it went downhill and we got episodes like Spock's Brain.Originally Posted by Ron G
This will be as much fun as Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Lucas needs to be removed from control over these properties, same as Roddenberry was.

Agreed, Shia's contract apparently states that they can bring him back for another trilogy basically anyway.Originally Posted by movieguru
A spin off is no suprise. If the movie does well it will probably happen.

I think a more likely scenario is two more films with Ford (with Shia as a co-star) and then a new trilogy with Shia when he's a bit older. Yeah, that's six films with Ford and six with Shia (with the middle three having them both).
I figure the next one can be set in 1963 (Kennedy Assassination) and the final one with Ford can be set in 1969 (Moon Landing).
Then we get Mutt Williams and That 70s Show for the next series of films.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was talking about making him an "executive consultant" after TMP. His ideas about where the movie series should go were simply bad, much like every idea Lucas has had since ROTJ.Originally Posted by Jon2

The third season of TOS did indeed leave much to be desired.

The big difference in the above scenario is that the studio essentially "owned" STAR TREK. Paramount doesn't "own" Indy - Lucas does. So they can't do anything without him.Originally Posted by Ron G
