I bet a lot of people will be going back to see Iron Man when they learn that there's a significant post-credit sequence. (over 90% of my audience was out in a flash when the credits rolled).

I'm considering it. I skipped out on it.

I sometimes feel the urge to yell "Hey, there's another scene after the credits". But I'd feel bad if the scene sucked.

Only those familiar with the comics though.
Spoiler:
For anyone who doesn't know who the fuck Nick Fury is or the Avengers, they'll just see Sam Jackson with an eye patch.

I doubt that. I made my cousin and friends stay last night when we saw it, and they were like "why the fuck did we stay for that?"

exactly. i don't know anything about IM or NF or TA, but i thought it was a cool scene.

wow! over $100 million!! i am sure no one predicted that much with a somewhat off the radar, non-flashy, non-mutant Marvel character. i think RDj and these phenom reviews pushed it to this take.

Wow, $100 million here and $201,000,000 worldwide!

And many people here doubted that it would even break 50 or 60 million.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall isn't as big as knocked up, but its still in the top five a few weeks later.

Mark my words. Next week's box office.

1. Iron Man at $48 million.
2. Speed Racer at $34 million.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall isn't as big as knocked up, but its still in the top five a few weeks later.
It will bow out of it's theatrical run shy of $60 million. Great for a film that cost under $20 million, not great as it was a highly looked upon Apatow release after the failures of Walk Hard and Drillbit Taylor.

The film has already made a profit for Universal, which in the long run, is all that's necessary.

I always expected Iron Man to be a good movie. When the character was handled well in the comincs (late 70's early 80's) it was among the best titles around - Tony Stark was one of the most fleshed out and realistic characters in comics back then.

And the character concept is fairly believable - and damned cool!

So the only things surprising me are just how good the script was, how high profile the cast was, and how big the opening weekend was (I always expected a $60 million or so 1st weekend, which would have been pretty good).

Marvel and Paramount probably are very happy about that. These figures justify Marvel's decision to produce films on their own with other film studios distributing them.
