Re: Roger Ebert – Discussion & Appreciation
This may explain a little bit as to why he's been so forgiving of certain films lately. If I looked like this, and lost my ability to speak, I'd be happy just to be above ground and able to still enjoy film.

He still looks better than most critics.

He's been like that fro a few years now, it has nothing to do with the way he reviews films, He hasn't changed at all.

I was subscribed to Ebert's twitter... for a day. Dude sends messages seemingly every 5-10 minutes. I love the guy, but couldn't take it anymore.

Poor guy. The cancer sure did a number on his jaw. He's unrecognizable.

Me too. It's sad to see the discrepancy between his usually superbly written reviews and some of the nonsense he tweets about so frequently.

I had no idea that Roger's entire lower jaw was gone. From what I had read about his surgery and followups, it sounded like part of it was gone.

It is sad to see him like that. However, I do recommend reading the article. He still seems incredibly optomistic, and seems to love movies more than ever.

I did. It kinda hurt me when I saw that that video of his tribute to Siskel was gone. Damn. I'm not one to believe the critics, though I do respect the ones that review a film well with a well informed opinion (though this can be hard as of late for Ebert as some have criticized him for it). His opinion mattered to me. Whether or not I agreed with him is irrelevant. It was a damn fine opinion he had and I cared about it.

Seeing that picture of him makes me feel incredibly sad. I'm glad he's still with us though. While I disagree with his reviews on a regular basis, I have and always will love his beautifully written reviews.

I was very moved by the article, but had to roll my eyes at Ebert's emotional breakdown over the disappearance of that shitty quality You Tube video of his Gene Siskel tribute. I can't imagine he dosen't either A) Have a copy of it or B) Could have gotten a high quality video tape of it anytime over the last ten years.

I read that article earlier this morning, very moving, very inspiring to see him still plugging away.

Very good article. Such a sad story, but glad to see Ebert still making the most of life that he can. Despite his numerous Twitter posts (and the fact that I wildly disagree with many), I do still follow him out of respect.

I follow him too.
His movie lists are still awesome.
Thanks to him I have picked up on so many great movies in the last year. Just to mention one I found out about 'Goodbye Solo' from his 'best of' list this year, one of the best films of the last year and it was good ol' Ebert that hipped me to it.
It'll be a great loss for the film world when we lose him.

Roger Ebert samples his new computer voice.

It's from today's Oprah show, I believe.
