Is ''Shut your face hippie.'' Clint's most underrated one-liner?

Everyone who quotes Eastwood, most always ends up going for something Dirty Harry related.

I don't know about you, but for my money, him saying ''Shut your face hippie." in Heartbreak Ridge is an all time classic. In fact, I'd say the most quotable Eastwood film is Heartbreak Ridge.

Anyone with me on this?

My sgts nickname is "The Swede" because of this movie (he's a short, thin Philipino).

I've always been fond of:

Don't remember exactly how it goes: the scene with Clint in a bar in Sudden Impact. The dyke chick who is one of the bad guys comes on to him and he turns her down. She says something like "Don't you like sex?" Clint replies, "Only with humans."

I always like "This is my gun, Clyde!" from The Gauntlet. I also liked his opinion on Sandra Locke from that same film. "On a scale of 1 to 10, I would have to give her a 2 because I've never seen a 1 before".

Pretty lame quote. Nothing particularly clever or witty about it. Clint has a lot better than that.

How about:

Clint has got to be one of the coolest men to have ever walked this earth. You can give him the worst dialogue and he will make it sound mean and uber cool. One great line i love of his is from Dirty harry where he says something along the lines of "Well when i see a guy chasing after a girl with a meat cleaver in one hand and a hard-on in the other....i figure hes not out collecting for the red cross."

I also like the scene in "The Eiger Sanction" where he is kicking the shit out of Dragons' henchman and saying "Sweetheart, baby, pal"

"There are two types of people in this world, those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig."

Tuco: [trying to read a note] "See you soon, id... "id... "ids...
Man With No Name: [taking the note] "Idiots". It's for you.

Lewis Belding: I got 18 people in my hotel! Where are they gonna go?
The Stranger: Out.

Joe: Get three coffins ready.
[Having said "get three coffins ready" earlier]
Joe: My mistake. Four coffins...

"Ms. Lilly, I was raised in a one room tenement in New Jersey. As a kid, I never even saw a cowboy, much less the wide open spaces... except when I could scrounge up a quarter for a picture show. I was a shoe salesman 'til I was 31 years old. Deep down in my heart I always wanted to be a cowboy. Then one day I laid down my shoehorn and swore I'd never live in the city again. You only live once. You got to give it your best shot."

i guess my favorite one liner is...

"I'm calling you a liar, and a cheat, and a fat, porky, son-of-a-bitch. Now you wanna hear any more? I've got other things I can think up for you."

That's my favorite too. The best part is the reaction it gets from Malkovich.

"Well, we're not just gonna let you walk out of here."
"Who's 'we,' sucker?"
"Smith and Wesson, and me."

"You know what makes me really sick to my stomach, is watching you stuff your face with those hot dogs. Nobody, I mean nobody, puts ketchup on a hot dog."

Do you know the emergency phone number for San Francisco General? Well, why don't you call them right now and have them send down an ambulance. Tell them there's two sorry-looking assholes here with multiple contusions and various abrasions and broken bones.

Back to the first Dirty Harry when the bad guy(Scorpio) claims that Harry beat him up and his face was a bloody mess-the Chief questioned Harry about the allegation and Harry said "It's obvious that I didn't do it because he looks too damn good!"

The Gauntlet is very quotable. It's the first time I ever heard someone say to himself, "Fuck me." And the way Clint says it, no one else has ever done it better.

Also love these from The Enforcer:

Capt McKay: (Chastising Harry's solution in stopping a robbery.) I never said to use violence!
Harry: Well what was I supposed to do, yell "trick-or-treat" at 'em?

Harry: Hypothetical situation, huh? All right, I'm standing on the street corner, and Mrs. Grey there comes up and propositions me. She says if I come home with her, for $5 she'll put on an exhibition with a Shetland pony...
Mrs. Grey: If this is your idea of humor, Inspector...
Harry: I'm just trying to find out if anybody in this room knows what the hell law is being broken, besides cruelty to animals.

Harry: (Forced to turn in his badge.) Here's a seven-point suppository, Captain.
Capt McKay: What did you say?
Harry: I said stick it in your ass.

I've got to go with:

Gonzales: There is one question, Inspector Callahan: Why do they call you "Dirty Harry"?
De Georgio: Ah that's one thing about our Harry, doesn't play any favorites! Harry hates everybody: Limeys, Micks, Hebes, Fat Dagos, ******s, Honkies, Chinks, you name it.
Gonzales: How does he feel about Mexicans?
De Georgio: Ask him.
Harry Callahan: Especially Spics.

That's true. I remember a while back when Jeff Daniels said how intimidated he was when he was about to meet him. Doing an impression, Daniels recounted what Eastwood said to him: "I loved Dumb and Dumber." I can just imagine him saying that.

If you love Clint, then yes. At the very least it's one of his more enjoyable movies from the 80s.
