A&C, absolutely. They're still my favorite movie comedians.
The Marx Brothers are great too.
Never card much for L&H. Except March of the Wooden Soldiers, of course.
3 Stooges are just slapstick, and stopped being funny when I was 8.
I like the early Bowery Boys stuff, when they were still making dramas as the Dead End Kids.
Martin & Lewis are nothing, I'd put the Ritz Brothers in this poll before M&L.
Hope & Crosby were good for one or two Road pictures.

At different times in the past it could have been any of them. I watched them all. A&C on Sundays mornings after church, 3 Stooges after school, L&H and the Bowery Boys on Saturdays. The Marx Bros when I was in high school. They were all great.

And yes, I put the Marx Brothers. I think that not only were they hilarious in their own time, but their comedy still translates well to today's audiences.

As much as I love the 3 Stooges, all of their movies were fucking terrible. The SHORTS, on the other hand, are absolte classics.
Anyway as far as who had the funniest movies, gimme Abbot and Costello any day (I never did care for the Marx Bros. much).

I really thought their solo scenes brought the laughs to a screeching halt in that one. How many times can you kick a man in the butt or snip someone's clothing with a pair of scissors? Especially compared to Groucho's opening scene, in which he tosses off at least two dozen brilliant quips, Harpo and Chico's brand of vaudvillian physical comedy gets tiresome rather quickly.

I can't believe that Bud And Lou are third to The 3 Stooges and The Marx Brothers this is sad day for anyone.
Again The 3 Stooges and The Marx Brothers were slap-stick they didn't work stand-up comedy for years like Bud And Lou.
I mean come on Abbott and Costello were real comedians and the Greatest Ever.

I want anyone who voted for the Stooges -- whom I *LOVE* -- to name one **MOVIE** of theirs -- not a SHORT -- that they hold up as exemplary comedy.
Because all their movies blew. IMHO, of course. Long, unfunny, plot-driven messes. Their shorts, however, are comic brilliance.

I love all those guys, but had to go with the Marx brothers. I think the Chico and Harpo bits are much funnier than Groucho's (If pressed to pick.) Their scenes are definitely my favorite, they are the highlights of the not so great flicks, like Night in Casablanca & At the Circus.

It's hard to beat the Marx Brothers, in my opinion. But then I haven't seen many Abbott and Costello movies. I loved their tv show and thought it was brilliant.
What would be considered one of the best Abbott & Costello movies?

For those of the uninitiated (I know this isn't the bargain thread) Amazon has both Marx Brothers Collections, the Universal Silver screen and the MGM box on sale right now for $27.49 each, which is a really good deal for the Silver, and a good price for the MGM. All you would need is Love Happy to complete the collection.
