I saw that Vince Vaughn's Wild West Bla Bla Bla (snore) movie just had a 2nd weekend drop of 97.3% from it's previous opening weekend (in which it bombed). Is this the biggest drop ever for a 2nd weekend of a movie? It has to be close. I know that Gigli had something like a 90 percent drop in it's 2nd weekend.

Looks like Gigli dropped around 81%; still horrible though. Ouch, I didn't realize Star Trek: Nemesis dropped 76% from the first to the second weekend.

Wow, they haven't added it yet, but the Vince Vaughn film is indeed the #1 second weekend drop. Of course, it's not a scripted film, but it's still a film that was released in theaters, so it should count.

I'm assuming we're not counting all the films that have had a 100% drop off like The Hottie and the Nottie?

yeah 100 percent definitely doesn't count, unless its actually showing in theaters.

If that figure of 97.3% drop stands for the Vince Vaughn movie I would have to feel kinda bad for him. That is not a record you really want to hold. The weinsteins dropping this film was one of the good decisions they've made in the past few years.

Bad Moon at #4? WB should have given that more of a chance. I thought it was a really cool werewolf flick, even though it opened in barely any theaters and left most of those in the 2nd week.

The Vince Vaughn flick was only booked for 1 week (instead of the usual 2) in most theaters, it dropped 90% of it's first weekend bookings so the drop really isn't that big of a surprise... Gigli had longer bookings.

For some moronic reason, Nemesis opened five days before The Two Towers. What could they have been expecting?

Well, if released the same time or soon after The Two Towers, it may have got no viewers. At least this way it had 5 days of viewers perhaps?

Maybe the fact that it was not a good movie had something to do with it and word of mouth killed it?
I think First Contact benefited from good word of mouth and thats why that Trek film did good. Star Trek and Nemesis both have a core audience that will go and see both movies no matter what but they also relay on reviews and word of mouth/interest and for ome reason ST: Nemesis didn't have it.
