Best Denzel Washington "Bad Guy" Performance?

What is everyone's thoughts? All three of these roles are quite different.

1) Alonzo in Training Day

2) Creasy in Man on Fire

or

3) Frank Lucas in American Gangster

Training Day slightly edges out American Gangster.

However, he kicked ass big time in Man on Fire.
Spoiler:
How can you not go wrong with a dude getting some good ol' vengeance by shoving a bomb up his ass? And the cigar-cutter scene is brutal and absolutely ruthless at the same time.

Alonzo Harris was probably the definitive asshole-tearing bad guy you're supposed to hate but end up loving of this decade...then Anton Chigurh and Plainview came along in the same year.

I'm hoping this Taking of Pelham One Two Three remake features some badassery from the man despite my woes with remaking such a great 70's movie.

1. Alonzo from Training Day - Perfect villain.

2. Creasy from Man on Fire - Total badass more of an anti-hero than a bad guy.

3. Frank Lucas from American Gangster - Poor performance not worth judging.

Agreed.
Def more of an anti-hero than a bad guy. I mean he did do it all for Pita after all.

I'll go with AMERICAN GANGSTER - just because that was a well-rounded and realistic performance. His TRAINING DAY performance was more of the cliche movie "bad guy" variety, although he's good in the film (still don't think it was Oscar-worthy though).

Without a doubt, Training Day. Denzel chewed through that role and it was Oscar-worthy.

I'll have to revisit Man on Fire as I didn't walk away feeling that he was a 'bad' guy, but a guy with some serious issues.

Training Day. His performance helped give a boost to Ethan Hawke getting a Supporting nomination. That's impressive.
