Name that Horror Film

Ok...Last night my wife asks me about a horror film that came out in the mid 80's and then she goes on to describe it. She expects me to know the title but I have absolutely no clue and I doubt I've even seen it. I then spend an hour on imdb searching for this film. She says that she's been trying to find the title for 20 + years.

So here goes.....I'll do my best to describe it and maybe someone can ease her pain We all know that feeling.

Year made approx 1982-1988
Guy kills family
Takes off in his car
Maybe picks up hitchhiker
Car Accident
Has amnesia
Falls in love with nurse who is caring for him
Nurse and killer "may" have kids together
He starts to kill again
He wears a black leather mask
Nurse finds the mask
He chases her through garage
Cop shoots the killer

Those are all of the details that my wife could provide.
She says that there is no way I will ever find the title of this movie and I just said one thing---> DVDtalk

It has to be Blackout - sounds like it anyway to the tee. I use to watch all the time on HBO when I was a kid.

Sounds like it to me as well, have your wife check out the trailer, see if it brings back memories:

Find a VHS copy, take it to Walgreens and have them transfer it to DVD

The VHS is on half.com. I suggest the $12.95 or $15.94 'very good' over the $149.99 'brand new' edition, unless your wife is a reallllly big fan.
