'Taken' Trailer with Liam Neeson
Just stumbled upon this trailer when looking for what the director of District 13 was doing next.
Looks like your standard fare ransom/revenge movie until you hear Neeson threatening the bad guys. He sounds like he's gonna kick some serious ass!! His voice alone has me excited to see this.

Looks like it could be good. I also loved this comment on the video:
Got to love how the bitch ex-wife calls him pathetic because he disagrees with letting her go at first. Bet she shuts her pie hole up from now on.

'Taken 2' Nabs Distribution, New Director
Olivier Megaton is helming the sequel? He totally destroyed Transporter 3. I'm out.
And, um, what gay subtext in the Transporter franchise? Or did Variety mix those films up with Top Gun?

And to drive his point home, he mentioned a scene in “Transporter 2” in which a drug czar’s wife, played by Amber Valletta, makes romantic overtures toward the Transporter. Martin rebuffs her, explaining, “It’s because of who I am.”
Letterrier’s take on that? “That’s him coming out!”
At the time, Jason Statham, who plays the Transporter, dismissed the director’s claims.
“It’s just Lou-Lou trying to be funny,” Statham said, using his private nickname for Leterrier. “Although he did say, ‘In Part 2, you will become the gay icon.’”
I e-mailed Leterrier a few days ago to get his take on “Transporter 3” and director Olivier Megaton’s choice to make the character heterosexual. “Haha, I haven’t seen it. I can’t wait,” Leterrier wrote back. But wasn’t he just a little disappointed Megaton had changed the character’s sexual orientation? Leterrier seemed to back off the gay Transporter theme he embraced three years ago.
“I was sick over the weekend and my 2 Transporters were on, so I watched them and in fact they aren’t that gay,” Leterrier wrote. “But it makes for fun movie legends.”

Another thread for the movie, if a mod feels like doing the ol' combo on old ass threads

But yeah, Taken was a movie that worked because of the director and how well paced it was (as well as Liam Neeson being Liam Neeson). I wonder if Maggie Grace will be back, she can be 17 this time around.
Not surprised they're making a sequel (the original made $225m worldwide ($145m in the US) on a $25m budget), just sucks they're downgrading directors.

Yes she is:

Maggie Grace has wrapped up her deal with Luc Besson's EuropaCorp to reprise the daughter role alongside Liam Neeson in Taken 2, the film that Transporter 3 helmer Olivier Megaton is poised to direct. Grace just completed Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn and Lockout, which Besson also produced, and which has been set for distribution with FilmDistrict. She's repped by UTA and Global Creative. ...

I don't see any reason why we'd need the daughter back. I don't want a retread of the first film; I want a new adventure with Neeson's character.

Who knows how big of a role it even is. But in general I agree. I also want to see more of Neeson's pals (including Leland Orser).

The Man From Nowhere basically took the same story but elevated the action scenes. They need to top the action in that movie to make this worth watching.

Re: 'Taken' Trailer with Liam Neeson
I'm up for Taken 2, but to make it work I think it has to be personal to Neeson's character in some way. That's what made the first one work so well.
Maybe this time it should be the ex-wife who is taken... due to something involving the 2nd husband. We know he is the kind of guy who probably has serious enemies that would do that kind of thing. Something requiring a more complex retrieval operation involving the pals.
And bring back the French guy to throw a monkey wrench into his plan.

I wonder if they'll def shoot it as a PG-13 movie this time, as if you remember, the original cut is an R rated movie, that is cut down (sometimes only by 5 frames) to get a PG-13
